I took this out of the library to prepare for going back to this part of France--I know what I did not feel that I had enough time for last time around, but wanted to look for some things that we might have skipped over because they were less interesting for the kids. I think these Eyewitness books are perfect for getting a sense of what the place looks like, and seeing where you might like to go--they offer very little in terms of practical on the ground advice--like where to stay and where to eat.
The perfect guide to read/browse/skim before you go: photographs, maps, illustrations, all you need to dream. How useful once you get there, I can't tell yet: I'll revisit my rating.
