This is the 3rd book in the "Rossmara" series and easily stands alone as I haven't read either Charmed or Fascination and wasn't lost or aggravated by info. dumps.

Justine decides it is her duty to enlighten women on what they can expect from men during courtship all the way to the marriage bed. Being a spinster she needs to do some research before she can begin her book however. This was a decent Scottish Regency romance. Our heroine is a 35 year old spinster who wants to write a book about marital relationships. She endeavors to move in with the hero as sort of a companion to his daughter (she's almost of age to come out into society) as well as getting information for her book. The hero is the typical tormented alpha male who won't tell his lady anything important. He's being blackmailed and leaves her in the dark. Sex plays a huge role as a motivator in this story... it's quite shocking, really. But as a whole, I really liked it... just not, a whole lot.
