I always had the impression Alberto Vazquez-Figueroa was not so much into love. And this book about a great love story only came to convince me of that. Throughout the story, all I got was the unshakable feeling that the author was mimicking love, forcing himself to describe something that did not come easy or natural to him and resorting to great speeches and clichés to do it. Too bad, as in the end it did not come right and I much more preferred the women-hating character of La Iguana, than th ...more

Of the six books I read by Alberto Vazquez Figueroa - this one was different. The story is interesting, but the dialogue between the two characters did not impress me. So, I did not enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed the other books.

Vázquez-Figueroa and his family fled from the Canary Islands to Africa during the Spanish Civil War. Since his youth, he visited the Sahara and described the culture of the desert region. He attended the studios of the Escuela Oficial de Periodismo de Madrid in a part of 1962 and worked in the Destino specials. He was a war correspondent in La Vanguardia, for TVE (Televisión Española) and for the ...more
