I was able to get the Venice book for my niece and she loved it more than the first book in the series (Paris). It was very cute the way the roles were a bit reversed this time with Bella being the mischievous one. I also think the illustrations were much more vibrant in this book. Once again, it was written at a level my niece was able understand and it also had fun tidbits about sightseeing and types if Italian food. I found the Italian “words and phrases” page most educational. We both loved ...more

Here is a great little series to introduce kids to different cultures and countries around the world. The story is always about two little chihuahuas and one showing the other around a particular city in the world. They explore the great attractions of the city, usually have some of the food, and even discuss some of the artists. At the end of the book, there is a page of popular phrases used in that city. I thought the series as a whole was very well done. This story is set in Venice discussing ...more

Cute travel book through Venice with a brother and sister chihuahuas

I discovered this book in a bookstore in Bucharest while shopping for books for our girls. There were several books of a series featuring this pair of Chihuahuas and I perused them all. What I liked was the colorful illustrations and the exciting adventure of exploring a new culture and city.

What frustrated me was the seemingly random selection of what to present. I know that small children have a limited attention span and cannot be expected to learn all aspects of a culture in one story. And

While I still wish for a little more plot, a little more detail, these books introduce a city of the world very well. Loved the trip to Venice and the chance to explore a little. There's a lot more to the city than this, but it's a beautiful start. It's nice where there's plenty of foreign language phrases at the back of the book. Some in the series skimp a little, but this amount was nice. ...more

Cute idea, but very random & choppy. I was irritated by when they stopped for lunch at a pizzeria. Bella explained what pizza was (can't imagine anyone hearing this story not knowing what(pizza is) -- and she then said chihuahuas don't eat pizza (why are they at a pizzeria then?). ...more

This is the second book in this series. Similar format. Fun, educational. Great pics. Good option for something different in the picture book genre.
