My intro to the world of Francophone comic books. Have to go back to the bookstore to get volumes 2 and 3, but I really enjoyed this. Strong beginning and interested to see what happens next. And the artwork is beautiful.

The premise (since most of the reviews for this comic book are in French, so this is for those who don't read it--also because je suis parasseuse écrire complètement en français) is a girl named Morue who is the homeliest girl in her village. She works as a servant with her moth

This is a beautiful album, clearly made in the tradition of the New Wave of French comics, which started in the 1990s, marrying the classical French-Belgian style with a more modern sensibility.

Hubert (Boulard) writes a story of knights, kings and fairies which feels like an old fairy tale and the two artists hiding behind the pseudonym of Kerascoët (Marie Pommepuy and Sebastian Cosset) has adapted a retro style that befits this medieval tale. As you can tell I'm enamored, but I'm waiting with

This got real dark real fast...and I loved it! It's your typical "dark side of fairytales" story so there's not really anything new here, but Kerascoët's drawings are gorgeous (as always) and if you enjoy being in the 'fairytales gone wrong (but beautifully)' sort of world, this one is not to be missed. I will definitely be continuing on with the series.

Ca m'a mis mal à l'aise.

Husband and wife team of Marie Pommepuy and Sébastien Cosset.

The story is that they were faced with signing both their names and possibly taking up too much of the cover, so they decided to name themselves after Marie's parent's village in Brittany.
