This was one of those pleasant little reads to take your mind off of things. I expected a bit more substance than I got, but I'm not sure why I expected more.
This book has a handful of really cool tea facts, ideas for gifts and get-togethers, and recipes for tasty looking teas and treats. I honestly hoped there would be more educational value out of this book, that it would be heavier on the facts, but this was a nice little read. It was refreshing to not have something too heavy.
I would recommend this for anyone looking for a tasty little recipe for tea or tea snacks, or for anyone looking for something to unwind reading with a nice hot cup of tea. Don't expect a lot of depth, just a nice pleasant tea book.
The Pleasures of Tea Recipes and Rituals with text by Kim Waller is or was somehow related to Victoria magazine. The book is filled with lovely photos, recipes and tips for enjoying tea. It does not go into depth on any topic. Light commentary accompanies pretty photos of teacups and teapots. The recipes are mostly sandwiches, scones and light fare to go with tea. There is very little history about tea. It’s a Martha Steward kind of book, fun to look at and easy to read.
I love all things tea and especially my Irish breakfast tea. This is a beautiful book and one I frequently look at when I want a peaceful relaxing evening with my pot of tea. Sometimes I need a break from work and the world around me so I turn to books like this to relax and appreciate the beauty of life. Tea is my best medicine.
Okay. So this was a little short on facts and didn't tell me anything I didn't already know about tea. That being said, it was lovely, and just reading it made me feel more relaxed. The recipes were wonderful, and I feel inspired to host a few tea parties of my own!
Lots of pictures, and a number of recipes. I am rather disappointed, but perhaps that is because I was expecting more interesting facts and useful information.
