The art is excellent but the story is too nonsensical and slight to have much value.

I love the illustrations for this book! Perfect for a child in a lap-read or read-alone to see the beauty as well as the fun. The story isn't bad. Not much to it, but simple that this might work for toddler, and definitely could work for preschool.
4/24/13 & 4/25/13: Went well, but not fabulous. The kids liked the pictures. They loved that the dragon broke the house. And they especially loved the new house they built. I think they would enjoy this if they could see the pictures more up close.

A good choice for toddlers or preschoolers who are on the prowl for more dragon books. Mostly, I thought this one was just OK, but some of the pictures won me over. My favorites are when the dragon is just hatched: snuggling in the crook of the rabbit's arm, being carried in a picnic basket with just a tendril of smoke wafting out, and sitting in a high chair. Can I have my own pet dragon, please?

"A Dragon Moves In" is a sweet and imaginative picture book about friendship, acceptance, and finding creative solutions when life gets a little unexpected. When Rabbit and Hedgehog discover a baby dragon, they welcome him into their home — only to realize that their tiny guest is growing much faster than they imagined.
I loved the heart of this story. The friendship between the characters feels warm and genuine, and I appreciated the message that when challenges arise, the answer isn’t to leave someone behind — it’s to work together and make room for everyone. The illustrations are full of personality and add a lot of charm to the story, making the world feel cozy and magical.
The story itself is simple, so it may not have the complexity older readers are looking for, but for a young audience it’s a fun read with a great message about kindness, teamwork, and inclusion. A cute dragon tale that would make a lovely read-aloud.

Friends Rabbit and Hedgehog are having a spring picnic when suddenly a dragon's egg hatches nearby. Of course they decide to take the baby dragon home with them. The dragon continues to grow at such a rate that before they know what's happening the dragon has grown out of the house, destroying the dwelling before their very eyes. So Rabbit suggests they build a new, better, BIGGER house.
Darling story that children will love. The illustrations are...odd? I can't quite put my finger on what is really weird about them. It might be that the author/illustrator give each animal human eyes. It's bizarre and creepy.

A rabbit and hedgehog discover a dragon egg. After it hatches, it's not long before the dragon is too big for their house, so they all work together to build a castle instead. The illustration style was a little strange--they looked computerized some of the time, and then not the rest of the time. Still will appeal to my dragon enthusiast patrons.

We loved this story
I like this story it taught me a lesson to have a good time with my friends and family. Also work together as a team you should but this on display at all libraries.

While having a picnic, Rabbit and Hedgehog a nearby egg hatches a baby Dragon. Rabbit and Hedgehog takes the Dragon home, but Dragon soon outgrows their home, so the threesome come up with a brilliant plan.

The illustrations didn't really appeal to me and I can't see preschoolers being too engaged in the story either.

CUTE BOOK
My grandson hates to read and we usually have a struggle to get it done. He enjoyed this book and asked to have it read again.

My 5 year old said it has to have 5stars because dragon are awesome. I think the presence of the rabbit and hedgehog also contributed to awesome high quality of the story.

Ahh..baby dragons, so cute and fun. And then they grow. And grow. And grow. And don't quite fit in their house anymore. This funny story tells how Dragon's friends help him out.

My daughter picked this up after story time because there is a dragon on the cover. It is a perfectly fine book, but not very exciting. Also, the illustrations are just kind of weird.

This review is from my grandson Alexander, for the book A Dragon Moves In, by Lisa Falkenstern.
I liked this because it was funny. The illustrations were very cool. My favorite part of the story was when they built a new house for all three of them to share. It was a castle. I love this book. I am four years old.
Alexander and I really enjoyed this book written and illustrated by Lisa Falkenstern. Rabbit and Hedgehog are having a lovely cup of tea, when an egg hatches, and they find themselves the proud caretakers of a baby dragon.
They feed it, play with it and altogether enjoy their new charge, until the growing size becomes a problem. After their home is destroyed trying to squeeze the large creature out, they come up with a solution for them all to live happily ever after. They build a new home.
We both enjoyed the pace and outcome of the story. It's nice when creatures large and small find happy solutions to problems. A lovely book, that was very much enjoyed by us both.

This is an entertaining story about two friends who adopt a baby dragon when it hatches right where they are sitting (literally.) The fantastical narrative is somewhat humorous and the oil on board illustrations have an eerily realistic quality to them.
The anthropomorphic animals are adorable and although I couldn't help thinking of rabbit and hedgehog as a gay couple, the story does not infer this to be true. We enjoyed reading this book together.

In this story, rabbit and hedgehog have a picnic, but find a hatching dragon egg. They decide to keep the dragon. But the dragon grows and grows until he becomes stuck and the only way out is to break the house. In the end they work together to build an even bigger house that they can all fit in.
The illustrations are gorgeous colorful oils with lots of texture. The story is short and simple which is perfect for an early reader. It is advertized for ages 6-8. This is just right.

Rabbit and Hedgehog find an egg and decide to hatch it. It's a dragon's egg and when the dragon baby starts to grow they don't know what to do because the dragon baby is too big for their house. They look for a solution for all three of them. Wonderful drawings and teaches that they have to be look for the best solution for them all.

The illustrations are warm and engaging. I'd be intereted in knowing how the dragon got in bunny and hedgehog land and why they're not afraid of it - but I guess like it is like the dinosaurs in the Ice Age movies, don't ask and no one gets hurt! Still it makes a good story time book.

The crack sounds make my two year old laugh out load. The story is cute about a baby dragon growing up. Although it ended a bit abruptly, the illustrations together with story make this picture book an excellent choice.

Hedgehog and Rabbit find a dragon egg as it is hatching and the little dragon moves in with them. But little dragons grow into BIG dragons! Short and cute - would be good as the last book for a preschool storytime or for younger groups.

PICTURE BOOK: I liked this picture book. I liked the message of friendship and I enjoyed the illustrations. I also liked the two mice that you can find within the illustrations, but are not included in the text.
