This is book is absolutely one of my favorites. It cleverly combines a teens problems and gives them a fantasy twist, and many people will relate to Kassia, a 16 year old girl has some pretty peculiar problems. Not only is she trying to find out who she is and where she fits in with the rest of the world. She has supernatural abilities, and she isn't alone. Kassia goes to a school for gifted teens where there is everything from Psychics to Dreamers. And then there is Kassia who is a Mind Blower. ...more

The Ultimate Sacrifice by Talia Jager is now one of my favorite books because it has all of my favorite things that I like in a book. The Ultimate Sacrifice has Action, Romances, Drama. The book is about these kids named Kassia, Mira, Zane, Auralee, Daxton, and Noe who all had some type of power that helped keep Kassia from using her powers for the wrong things, but one day Kassia best friend Mira had got in to a little trouble with these two guys that was trying to do somethings to her. This book wasn't bad, but it wasn't a favorite either. Keeping in mind the characters are around 16 years old, the way they acted and interacted was still too... shallow? Their personalities lacked depth.

Added to that is the way adults have almost no use or authority during the rising conflict in the story, which was treated as normal; other than providing shelter and financial support, the adults are barely tokens in this world.

Lastly, this whole story has a distinct fanfic flavor, imitating

Would you kill yourself to save the ones you love? The Ultimate Sacrifice by Talia Jager is, surprising. Control is the name of the game for a girl with deadly powers. This is no ordinary powerful girl, this is a girl who can hurt, and even kill, someone when needed, or by accident. Her best friend is a very good help to her and she is very thankful for everyone in her life, their friendship is very important to her. Talia Jager took an ordinary world and turned it into a world of danger and exc ...more

It started so well that I thought it would be a wonderful story, but the more advanced in it more seemed like they had put in a blender every paranormal argument and seasoned with lots of people who did nothing but mourn and cry all the time. However, the idea is great.

Well i think I wasted a few hours reading this story... Don't think I'll read more of this series! It was rushed and about as deep as a puddle.... There was a connection between the friends in the story but even that was stilted. I think the characters need to be developed a bit more too.

This book is totally something I would read. I read lots of paranormal romance. The storyline was exciting and highly enjoyable. I love the giftings of the characters and the direction the author went with this novel. It started out a little slow, but the anticipation of what was to come kept me reading. Overall it was thrilling and gripping, even to the last page.

But there was something missing (for me) that at first I couldn’t put my finger on. I nailed down two things. First… the author’s wr

The book was surprisingly a one light and easy read, far from what I expected when I first read the summary. Nonetheless, I’m giving the author some kudos because after a few chapters, I was fixed to the book even when my eyes were strained and fluttering in drowsiness, in the dead silence of the night. Yes, I found myself saying ‘Okay, another 30 minutes then I’ll go to sleep’.

The plot was truly simple and easy to digest, there’s absolutely nothing complicated about it. It chronicles a story ab

My Rating: ★★★★☆

It’s pretty cool being a teen with a supernatural gift—that is unless you have the power to inflict pain with your mind and you can’t control it. That’s exactly the situation in which sixteen-year-old Kassia finds herself. Kassia enrolls in a special school for gifted teens and subsequently meets her new best friend, Mira, and a pretty awesome love inte

I have to say that I probably never would have found this AMAZING book had the author not requested a review for it! I'm so glad that she did! I absolutely LOVED this book. It took me two days to finish this book when it usually takes me a week to finish one. That's not to say that this is a short book because it isn't! It's just SO GOOD that I couldn't put it down! I was completely enthralled from beginning to end and I can't wait to read book 2!

Kassia is a mind blower (she has the power to cause severe pain and even cause death...only by using her mind). WOW! What would you do with powers like that? She doesn't know how to control her powers or her that is a bad combination to have.

Kassia attends the Glendale Institute. It is a school of gifted individuals who learns about their powers and how to use them. Kassia's friends all have different powers, and they learn to work together as a team. Miya is Kassia's best friend, t

I really, really loved this book. I felt like the group of characters fit so neatly together – both their powers and the way they related to each other. I liked all of the powers and the way they were used. I liked that we weren’t forced to question their powers or the way they used their powers, because all of them were so attuned to it already, except for Kassia, whose power was too dangerous to actually be practiced. I loved the different points of views – we see parts of it through Mira’s ey ...more

Would you give "The Ultimate Sacrifice" to protect the ones you love??

All the students at the Glendale Institute are "gifted." This story focuses on Kassia, a mind-blower, one who delivers pain with her mind and can even cause death. Her friends, Mira, Daxton, Noe, Auralee, and Zane all play equally important roles as they come together to stop an army of demons from taking over and everyone being destroyed by them and their evil leader, Kern.

Come along as Kassia learns how to perfect and contr

The story jumps right into the "gifts" of the gifted teens... most unusual of them being Kassia who is capable of staring someone to death, literally. She is surrounded by friends Mira, a compeller of thoughts and immune to Kassia's death stare; Noe who can glimpse the future; Auralee who can hear people's thoughts; Zane, who can communicate with animals and anyone of any nationality; and Daxton, who has the ability to take anyone anywhere in dreams. Spotlight goes to Kassia when evil forces rec ...more

I really did not like this book. It had a lot of issues, mainly from the writing itself. The idea was pretty good - a bunch of kids who have different powers, like mind-reading or telepathy, and one of them whose power is too dangerous and must die to protect her friends because otherwise, they will always be chased by demons. Sounds pretty good, right? Well, it would've been, if the writing was a lot better.

The problem was mainly the choppines of the book. Most scenes are very short when they c
I really enjoyed reading The Ultimate Sacrifice. Some of my favorite books has a school/campus setting. So yes this is now on my favorites list. This is about friendship and just what you will sacrifice for those you care about.

Kassia lives at the Glendale Institute, a school for the gifted. All the students here have some kind of special gift or power. There are mind readers, dreamers, compellers and ones who can see the future. Then there is Kassia, a mind blower, someone who can cause pain an

There's an assault planned on the school she attends for special students. The end Kassia is a girl that has the power to kill hundreds, perhaps thousands at a time. Several others are assigned to help her keep her powers in check, but then those powers are needed to conquer the typical I-want-the-world-under-my-control baddie.

I give this book a three star rating. I love the author’s enthusiasm and the love she has for the world she has created but herein lies part of my problem with the book. Whilst reading the story line would build up, come to a quick conclusion and move on the next climax. The author loves her story so much she left me with the impression that she could not wait for you to read through it all.
The characters were nicely fluffed out, but the author spent loads of time on describing one of two scenar

This is more a story about teenage friendships and choices than science fiction/fantasy. It is set in a world of demons and paranormal teens. Unlike Harry Potter or Hunger Games, we don't really get a feel of the school or the world and the battles are not detailed. But, the emotions and thoughts of the characters are presented in a well scripted manner so the reader gets insight into the friendships, fears, joys, and sacrifices giving rise to the ultimate decisions of the main characters.

Kassia has a special gift: she can kill people with her mind. While she tries to accept the most feared gift, Kassia finds herself on the run with her close friends that are also gifted in other ways. Kassia is wanted by both good and bad as her gift can be used to kill any opponent. Kassia is left with a choice- does she want to help good or evil.

While there is a love story within the plot, I found it hard to understand. The characters meet and are instantly together. It was kind of weird. In

I am not sure of the intended target audience of this book. It contains sexual tension, kissing, fairly graphic rape and violence so it's clearly aimed at the higher-end of the teen scale, but the dialog, scene setting and segues were superficial and immature, not to mention unrealistic.

For example, there is a girl who wears a new t-shirt with a fitting slogan for every situation, even when they are on the run and living out of a backpack each. They need to find a reclusive oracle on a mountain

I love the concept of gifted people going to some special school in order to learn their history and how to control their own gift. And this is one of those books where the main character has some very rare and very powerful gift that should be wisely used, the problem is: Kassia is a very hot-headed person, and she can’t control her gift when people anger her so she is constantly observed by the teachers and even her close friends and need to be controlled when she loses grasp in her own gift. ...more

I'm sick of hearing about vampires and werewolves. Now, the thing is zombies. But, I'll admit it, I have a soft spot for heroines with superpowers (I may be biased), which is Jager's fresh take on the young adult paranormal genre in "The Ultimate Sacrifice". This book struck me at the core and I don't usually read YA. It's intense nearly from beginning and all the way to the end. It is hard, fast, and brought tears to my eyes several times. Her protagonist, Kassia, is infinitely likeable, partic ...more

I enjoyed this book. It was different. It was about teens with powers. Some can read minds, some are dreamers who can take people into dream places, and others like our main character Kassia, some who can kill people with there minds. This book is all about friendship. How the characters are all friends and they would die for one another. And in this story the Kassia sacrificed herself for her friends. But what they don't know is she has angel blood in her veins so she didn't actually die but sh ...more

Mind Blower

I loved this book. Kassia had been at this school for gifted kids. She has a little bit of an anger control problem but with the help of her best friend she manages to keep it under control. These gifted kids could do things with their minds. This book kind of reminds me of the X-Men sagas and Xavier's school for the gifted. There is plenty of action, adventure, suspense, death, demons, true love and strong friendships. It has a little bit of everything. This book is part of a series
