I don't know why I could not tag the correct book, but this is actually Mornings on Horseback.
I have always enjoyed David McCullough's meticulous, yet throughly entertaining biographies. Many years ago, I tackled Truman, and still recall how much I learned about him and how very much I enjoyed getting to know the man, outside of a couple of paragraphs in a history book.

TR was almost a mythical figure, and this story of his childhood and life up to his second marriage is utterly fascinating. The

As usual, David Mc Cullough makes reading history a sheer delight. He tells the story of TR before his Presidency; chock full of detail. And WHAT an interesting family TR stems from, where each member contributes to the man he became. A wonderful read.
