This book was originally written by Ellen as a gift to help her cousin, Nanci, explain her cancer diagnosis to her two sons, ages 3 and 5 at the time. Later, Nanci illustrated Ellen's text so that the book could be used to help other children and families also experiencing cancer of a loved one.

The text is simply enough for young children to understand but informative enough to answer many of the questions and concerns that children often have. The illustrations are soothing and soft to comfort

In this book, the mom has cancer and the focus is on helping her children understand what Mom is going through (radiation., chemo, that they can't catch cancer from mom, etc.).
