A princess in a portrait by the famous American painter, James McNeill Whistler, tells how he transforms the dreary room where she hangs in his wealthy patron's house in London into the spectacular Peacock Room.
This one was informational and I enjoyed learning the story of the Peacock room but it missed a few beats with me in making the Princess from Whistler's portrait the narrator but then never really giving us much from/about her. That frustrated me.
As I read this, I quickly realized how little I know about Whistler. This was an intriguing introduction to the man and his work. (But I don't expect it to be a favorite with the kids. We'll see.)
