The book shows a simple, but sufficient, understanding of the overarching Military and Political issues with the Korean War. It had also given some understanding of the events that proceeded the Korean War, with the political climate around Korea at the time after WW2. The Korean War started because the North Koreans, communists, and the South Koreans, capitalists had plans to annex each other. The North Koreans however, had gotten a lot of support from their allies, while South Korea was prevented from getting any form of significant military aid. North Korea quickly declares war at about 4am in a surprise attack, catching South Korea off guard, nearly wiping out the country entirely. The UN then decided to intervene in the conflict with support mostly from the U.S, kicking off the Korean War.
