Ellie Bean the Drama Queen

This cute children’s book helps explain some bizarre or "dramatic" behavior, and gives easy sensory answers to parents and teachers. Written by a mom and special education teacher, this story brings home what it is like to grow up with sensory issues, and helps kids understand that they are not alone. Children will enjoy the fun artwork and empathize with Ellie Bean. By the end of the story, Ellie learns how to cope with her issues and stop being such a drama queen . . . but she does keep her crown.

This story is the perfect way to introduce SPD to those who aren't familiar with it, including adults and children. The light-hearted story of an ordinary day for Ellie Bean will have kids interested and relating to Ellie Bean on a personal level. The illustrations beautifully depict the story. A must have for every elementary school teacher!

I like that this book is about children who struggle with sensory issues. I have a cousin who struggles with sensory issues and many people don't understand him. I think it's nice to spread awareness like this.

A sweet story of a mom’s journey to understand her daughter’s struggles with SPD. The story is simple but the information and resources at the end of the book are plentiful!

I need to re-read this again. It seemed like it went between a picture story to a telling story. Some of the vocabulary was a bit off. Not sure who I would read it too in parts....the kiddo or the parent. The blurb on Goodreads is not right either...how Ellie has a sensory disorder that is "easily fixed." Haven't seen that happen personally. Usually it is not an easy fix.

Our 5 y.o. with SPD loves this book. He asks for us to read it. It outlines for children very clearly that they may need help from an OT for processing their surroundings.
