This is definitely on my top ten list of books about anal sex, or top 20 at the very least. I don't think that I could have made it through to the age of twelve without it as my girlfriend was getting a little bored with our intimate life back in grade school. As you all know, lubrication is of the utmost importance so it was great to see my once deplorable childhood habit of spitting come in so handy. I found especially useful the chapter entitled, "Making the most of fruits and vegetables."

No shame in my game! I defy you to find a more comprehensive resource on the subject. As always Tristan Taormino hits all the bases and manages to keep it sexy while doling out super practical information. A+

Believe it or not, Ripley, but I read this for research. For a book. No kidding. I was curious what pleasure there is for the gals in this sort of tabooy bidness. I wanted to see if D.H. Lawrence's description in LADY CHATTERLEY'S LOVER had any valence with the womenz. The best compliment I can give is that I learned a lot. Oddly enough, I've had several friends ask to borrow it. So much for the tabooy.

Recommends it for: women who want to give and receive anal sex
This is another great anal sex how-to book, this one (as I'm sure you've figured out from the title) focused on women.

Once again, "sex" doesn't necessarily mean intercourse, so this book offers information on a lot of different activities that fit under the broader umbrella.

This book is a must-read for women who want to have whatever form of anal sex, as well as for partners who want to have it with them.

Here's what I said about this book in my women's sexuality reading list:

It would be a surprise to have such a book in my shelves, I mean since it was designed for women, but I manage to call that book a sexual guide to Anal sex. I choose to have it since Tristan Taormino decides to make sexual education go toward a healthy and happy sexual life. I have this book in eBook format.

My Plot:
"I have to say from the first that I am going to be so open, so please don't get offended". In the beginning of the book Tristan took the subject of "Anal Sex" from a

I am very stingy with my 5 star reviews, and I did not think that any sort of guidebook would receive one, if not only because I reserve them for books that gave me a thoroughly enjoying reading experience. Yes, this guidebook is super informative -- Tristan is often revered as the queen of anal sex, but it was also just a flat out great, digestible read. Taormino loves talking about anal sex, her enthusiasm for the subject gleams through the pages. This is a respectably hefty volume that not ...more

Tristan Taormino has produced an excellent, accessible book demystifying anal eroticism and how to enjoy anal play. She covers so many topics that one is hard-pressed to think about what she's missing: anatomy, the emotional and psychological aspects of anal sex, how to discuss anal desires with your partner, safer sex, how to warm up the anus for play, lubricant, toys, positions, bdsm, health concerns, and even a brief section on anal pleasure for men, among others. Peppered throughout the book ...more

This book is a complete waste of money. I bought it more out of curiosity than anything else. I just figure it doesn't hurt to be educated. But everything this book brings up, I've found on the internet. The information I've found on the net, has been more thorough and complete. This book basically just touches upon various themes. Some things are explained a bit better than others, but after reading this book, I would have had more questions than answers if I hadn't already done my research ...more

So, this book ended up on my radar after having to remove a "lost butt plug" from a patient late one night in the ER. It took about 5 minutes into my conversation with this patient to realize there's an entire world of activities, that people engage in, that I have almost no knowledge of.

I suppose my initial curiosity was about what people are doing and secondly about why some people engage in these activities.

This book is 50% informative and 50% hilarious. Lots of detailed instructions on how

This is quite educative. After recently reading a novel touching on this subject amongst many in the past I figured it best to seek a guide book on the subject. I wasn't dissapointed after reading this book. It concisely and repeatedly (without being a bore), elucidate on the myths, practices, protections, pros & cons, professional and experienced, and many referenced resources to seek more info. So while this new and richer knowledge hasn't changed my mind, I do feel resources like this ...more
I got this through the library a few years ago, along with The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Men, to do a bit of compare and contrast. While I didn't find the answer to my technical question/theory, I was just reminded the other night of something I learned from this book that I wasn't expecting. Tristan goes into the technique she's taught herself for keeping her ass shaved, and says that without any hair in the crack, there's nothing to keep one's farts silent. I was skeptical about this ...more

Recommends it for: people who want to have anal sex.
There was some useful info in this book, but not a lot of stories from folks who tried it and liked it. There was sort of a step by step, but honestly I've not tried any of them so I can't even share how it went.
Probably the best how-to-guide for anal sex for women. Definitely recommend it!

A must read if you want to explore anal play in a fun and pain-free way. Tristan is the best author and speaker to learn from when it comes to anal sex. So educational, so thorough!

This book is straightforward in its contents and advice, most of which is good. I can't say I learned a whole lot from reading it but I would recommend it to those who are curious.

The 1-5 Star Review is the total of what I have to say about this book, specifically.

Caveat: This review is historical/archival in nature. It was likely in the neighborhood of twenty years ago when I read this. Date read is speculative.
This book is one of many non-fiction books I have read about human sexuality. At some point in my youth, I consumed a large swath of this reading material -- most of which was scholarly, clinical, or instructional in nature. (I was totally a Dr. Ruth and Anka

I swear I learned more about rectal and anal health in this book than I ever did in any high school health class. Including STDs and other health complications.

Thanks, abstinence only education. *rolls eyes*

This is the first book I've read on anal sex, and I learned SO MUCH. The author is down-to-earth, uses humor and sarcasm, and explains the topic with much-needed honesty. One of her stated goals is to inform on what exactly anal sex is, isn't, and to dispel myths about it.

Hard to find a more in depth guide to the subject. She explains step by step and covers all the bases regarding safe practices.
She is highly knee on providing medically aproved information about the risks and stds involved which makes it a recommendable book for anyone interested in the topic
