The book really unravels the mathematical patterns in the world which you would have not cared to look after. People who dont seem to like maths much must surely read it.
I received this book through a Goodreads giveaway. It's very entertainingly and engagingly written and an interesting subject matter, but I'm afraid I was quickly left behind once it got into technical details. I'm sad about this as I'd hoped it would spark my interest in a subject which I have always struggled with. However having said that I realise the fault is entirely with me and not the author, my brain is clearly not wired that way. The good news is that my 18 year old maths undergraduate nephew loved it!
a fabulously engaing book covering the history and imoort of maths. some of the tech stuff was difficult, but Alex made it as accessible as humanly possible, but without being painfully slow as other attempts at the genre have been.
Alex has a great story-telling ability that really draws you in though I think his absolute love of maths leads the examples to be a tad technical which can be off-putting at some points.
This book is extremely refreshing to read (the language is just free-flowing). It brings out the beauty of the world of Mathematics with so much ease. It is a captivating read. Recommended
