Read this on Project Gutenberg. An Improving Book for Boys, to help them learn to be strong, upright, manly fellows who can build stuff, kill stuff, and grow stuff.

Also a statement about how the US is better than all other countries, who are backward, and probably wicked to boot.

The only women are some mothers and sisters, who don't even get names... and the Modern Reader (me) got the giggles at the -surely- unintended homoerotic way the boys do go on. Charlie and John and Fred wouldn't know wha
