One word: boring. Which is unfortunate because I really liked another knitting book of hers. But this book is dullsville. The patterns are plain and ordinary full of stockinette stitch or plain, ordinary, uniform cables. The only patterns that vary are a couple of completely random blankets where she just randomly sticks lengths of knitted fabric together. The one shaped pattern is taken straight from that other book I liked but with a weird edge stitching in a clashing color.

If you like really ordinary patterns that you've seen elsewhere and don't like a lot of variety in your knitting stitches, then this is the book for you. Everyone else, give it a miss.

My favorite knitting book of all time. One of the few that I *had* to own, and I look at it all the time.

Absolutely gorgeous photos, lovely patterns and work. Very inspiring.

Very stylish. Nothing too granny or fussy. I would wear or use almost everything in this book, which I can't say about any other craft book. Not even close.

I've co-opted a bunch of the cool detailing into my own made-up patterns, some inspired by Dallas' patterns.

Beautiful, simple knits. Interesting color palette, I like the way she organizes the book according to color combinations. I'm currently working on the three panel, textured bedspread/blanket and have substituted Blue Sky Alpaca organic cotton. The patterns are very flexible in this regard. Even though it's taking me forever (a queen-sized bedspread!). I'm not bored with it yet.

you can get this book at Urban Knitting in Hayes Valley. There is the best pattern in there for a hot water bottle cosy. I want it!
