A little girl tells toddlers about her best friend Cotton. Cotton is her little cat who follows her around and spends a lovely time with her. Cotton the Pussycat illustrates a strong relationship between a child and her cat and encourages the love and care for pets.

عشقت نورة أحمد النومان اللغات فتخصصت في أدب اللغة الإنجليزية وحازت على بكالوريوس من جامعة الإمارات في 1986، وماجستير الترجمة من الجامعة الأمريكية في الشارقة في 2004. ولم تتخيل أن تتحول إلى الكتابة الأدبية في يوم ما، وتعتبر أنها كتبت للأطفال بمحض الصدفة فقط. في 2010، أصدرت لها دار كلمات كتابين مصورين للأطفال "القطة قطنة" و "القنفذ كيوي". وفي خلال بحثها عن روايات عربية لبناتها اليافعات اكتشفت العجز الكبير في هذا النمط الأدبي، وخاصة الخيال العلمي، وبدأت في كتابة روايتها الأولى "أجوان". أصدرت دار نهضة مصر رواية "أجوان" في 2012. فازت أجوان كأفضل كتاب لليافعين لعام 2013 من جائزة اتصالات لأدب الطفل. نشرت نهضة مصر الجزء الثاني من أجوان بعنوان "ماندان" في يناير 2014، والجزء الثالث بعنوان "سَيْدونِيَة" في 2016. تعكف النومان حاليا على إنهاء السلسلة في الجزء الرابع.

Born in Sharjah, cultural capital of the UAE, Noura Al Noman became a writer at 45 years of age. In 2010, she published two picture books for toddlers: “Cotton the Kitten” and “Kiwi the Hedgehog”. Noting the huge deficit in books for young Arabs, she wrote “Ajwan”, one of a handful of science fictions novels in the Arab world. Noura believes that Arab youth are hungry for fiction, and hopes science fiction will provide compelling Arabic content. “Ajwan” won the Etisalat Best YA Novel Award in 2013. Book two, “Mandaan” was launched at the Cairo Book Fair, January 2014, and book three, "Saydounia" in 2016. she is currently working on the fourth and final installment in the series.

I quickly read this book and I can see that it would be a nice book for really young readers. It is really good book for toddlers, I believe. Nevertheless, this book made me realize that you are never too old for a sweet, simple story. You will always find something you like there.

I really enjoyed knowing about the inspiration for this story and it added to the overall experience.
