Rachel D'Evereau had everything the world could offer -- wealth and prestige, striking beauty, a charming and successful husband, and a profession she loved. Yet, when a series of catastrophes begin to shatter the secure, comfortable walls that surround her life, she is forced to admit long-suppressed feelings of insecurity and worthlessness.Rachel returns to her ancestral plantation home where she confronts the painful secrets that have haunted and challenged members of her family for generations. Her quest to rekindle the spiritual flames that guided her as a child take her on an unexpected journey, a journey from darkness into light.
Celebration is a sweeping saga filled with characters whose lives blaze across the pages of history, from the genteel South of the early 1800's to the tumultuous urban landscapes of modern America. It is also a powerful and moving novel that captures the journey each of us must take if we are to accept our true identity as God's worthy children.
ByGinnyon January 19, 2015 Format: Paperback "Celebration" is the first book I read by Kay Moser. Kay is a masterful storyteller from the first page until the last page of this heartwarming book. I immediately felt drawn to the main character Rachel as she journeys from the present back to her younger years and how her life experiences molded her character and her opinion of herself. Her relationship with her Grandmere and Lovey truly brought out her best qualities and in the end Rachel learned that her worthiness was truly to be celebrated and not allow her past to define her. This superb book drew me in and made me look inside myself as I could relate to some of the same feelings Rachel had growing up. I was so moved by the book that I continued reading it late in the night to finish it. I highly recommend reading this book that is faith based, clean and moving book. I can't wait to read Kay Moser's sequel next entitled, "Glimpse of Splendor". CommentWas this review helpful to you? Yes No Report abuse
Loved! Loved! Loved this book. This story that enraptures you in tender arms as your heart goes out to the little girl who grows up before your very eyes. If you've ever wondered what changes a child, this book shows you in a book you won't be able to put down from start to finish. Wonderful. Touching. Life changing. The best news......now there's a follow up of Racher's life, Glimpse of Splendor. Can't wait to start that one!
I reread this novel because I had the privilege of leading 2 discussions of it for a FB private group, Worthy Women Book Club. Please check the reviews on Amazon to see what the members of the group thought of this novel. Essentially they all agreed that it was "life changing" in the best sense of that phrase. If you would like to join in the next discussion of this novel, please contact me here on goodreads or on FB.
An amazing story of awakening to one's God-given worth. The strength of Kay Moser's novel is that she doesn't simply TELL you that you are worthy; she shows you HOW to embrace your worth. You won't be the same person after you read this novel. You owe it to yourself to read this book. You are worth $2.99!!!
This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It starts out in a regular manner telling the story of Rachel, a very successful young woman. After her cheating husband is killed in an accident, Rachel goes back to her parents’ home. There she is plagued by old memories of her childhood & the person who always told her she was no good. She flees back to her late grandmother’s estate in LA, and the loving arms of the elderly housekeeper. There Rachel goes on a journey of self discovery, revisiting the pleasant memories of time spent with her “Grandmere” and the not so good memories of her childhood. Her progress on this journey towards renewed faith & sense of self worth grabs you & takes you along with her. I found myself revisiting issues & people from my past & reevaluating how they had impacted me. Kay Moser is a gifted author & I can’t wait to read the sequel!
Rachel seems to have a good life, but after a series of terrible events, she retreats to a place she has felt comfortable, her grandmother’s how in Louisiana. During that time she takes time to self reflect and through reading her grandmother’s diaries, she learns a lot about her grandmother, her father and her ancestors.
It is these lessons learned from the strong and resilient women of her family to help Rachel realize the self worth she had all along. And through this journey she learns to help other young women discover the same. Many memorable and powerful characters and loved the family saga. Definitely recommend.
Celebration was one of the best books I have ever read. There is a very deep message in this book for everyone. Although it is fiction the message is very real. When I finished this book I looked at myself completely different. I have also spread the message of this book to others, especially teens. It has made me analyze myself and how and what I say to others. Kay Moser is a brilliant author being able to take a fiction book and deliver such a strong message that is so true at the same time! I highly recommend this book to all of you.
I loved "Celebration!". It is a beautiful story-powerful, moving, thought provoking, inspiring, with humor, as well! It has it all! Kay Moser is a truly gifted storyteller. I highly recommend it! 5 Stars! All of Kay's novels are wonderful!
My first Kay Moser book, it is absolutely beautiful. I just loved all of the well written characters. You'll meet Rachel D’Evereau, her mother Patsy & her dad Jack, her mother's friend Mammy Cassie, Rachel's Grandmere & Lovey, a friend named Aimee and Mr. Sunshine and his dove🕊️.
Kay Moser brought out all my emotions. She made me laugh, like when this took place, Mammy Cassie & the fried chicken 🍗 and the 100 lb black dog named Satan, so very funny 😂🤣, you'll love it. Another part is when Rachel asks God to make her friend Amiee white 🤍. She made me angry 😡 with the person named Garth Gunner. She brought me to tears when she writes, "He was a baby once, an innocent baby."
Kate Moser then has Rachel tell everyone "We are not what we do! We are what God created!" She tells them that "God don't make no trash🗑️." There are so many inspirational words throughout the pages of Celebration. You will love every moment spent reading this heartfelt story of loving one another and of one self. Enjoy ❤️.
After reading this book for the second time, I could hardly put it down. Love the historical facts that are in the story line and how the characters are intertwined in this wonderful book. Rachel is a very special character and loved grandmier as she helped Rachel believe in herself by reflecting on God’s love.
