Easily the worst poker book ever written. The central message? Phil Hellmuth is very, very smart; you on the other hand are very, very dumb and should play accordingly.

Great book for understanding the mindset behind winning poker, especially for tournament play. Hellmuth’s strategic insights still hold up today. For anyone interested in poker and gaming resources, bgame.com.pk is also worth checking out.

This is an adequate book. It provides basic Hold'em principles and teaches some fundamental aspects of the game's strategy. The book is focused on limit cash games. Being a tournament player, and given that Hellmuth's success is in the tournament realm, I would have liked him to focus more on NLH tournaments. All in all, though, the book is a worthwhile purchase for a beginning poker player given the great bang for the buck it provide.

Love him or despise him for his theatrics, Hellmuth is a superb poker champion. This book isn't going to make you a poker stud, but it will point out some flaws you might have if you consistently lose when you play. It is a short book; I read most of it during my kid's soccer practice. I got it for $2 and I think it was a good book at that price, but it didn't really teach me much that I didn't already know. I did like his animal analogies though.

I'm enjoying but have been watching Phil on Poker after dark (just happens he was on this week) and he doesn't seem to be following his own teachings. be interesting to see how he finishes up.
He is an 11x bracelet winner though so he must know something

Again Phil shows little care for his poker following with this trash book. So little attention is paid to the basics that he gets the 10 worst and best starting hands wrong. Come on Phil try just a little will you...

Good introduction, doesn't go into a lot of detail about strategy but gives a fair amount of examples, which is useful.
