Egyptian Gods and Goddesses: The Mythology and Beliefs of Ancient Egypt

Rate this book
The Ancient Egyptians had a vast number of gods & goddesses. This book catalogs both those whose names have remained well-known & those who have all but disappeared into obscurity. Over 30 deities are examined in detail. Many have the heads of animals, reflecting their origins as simple animal fetishes, while others are unmistakably human & are differentiated by unique & symbolic head-dresses. Illustrated to show how the Egyptians lived & exactly how the gods & goddesses were perceived. Complete with details about the history of Egypt & the place of animals, mummification, pyramids & symbols in its religions.

It's the artwork in this that really stands out. Some of the images are downright breathtaking. But the mythology text is pretty much standard. Still, wow that art!
