Colors for Your Every Mood: Discover Your True Decorating Colors

Rate this book
America's leading color expert shows how to choose the right color combinations for all your rooms based on Color Moods from your own personality, nature, and travel. Most decorating books start out telling readers how to achieve someone else's notion of how a room should look. This book is different. It helps you determine how you want yourself, your family, and your friends to feel when entering each room in your home. It combines psychology with a practical how-to and reveals which colors and color combinations will achieve the feeling and personal style you want to project in each room.

Much more in-depth about the psychology of color than I was expecting. (Descriptions in library catalogs are not traditionally as extensive as those on Amazon etc.) Most of that was nevertheless very interesting, particularly in terms of applying it to your goals for each space in the house and taking into account how others will respond to it. The bits about "If your favorite color is [blank:], than your personality is [blank:]" were right up there with astrology, but they didn't take up much space. The assorted color mood groupings were probably the most useful part of the book. They did a much better job of showing me what sorts of colors I liked and what I strongly disliked than the word association exercise could accomplish. It was too bad, however, that they would randomly and abruptly interrupt text sections rather than appearing in between.

I know more about my personality as it relates to color. I will be more likely to make a wise choice when painting rooms in my home, and choosing accent colors as I decorate.

Interesting insight on colors and emotions. Helped me start thinking about the psychology behind colors like how favorite colors of a person can reflect their mindset...
