In his teenage years, Akamatsu failed the entrance exam to Tokyo University, and applied for Film Study instead (it is speculated that this is where he got the idea for Love Hina). Eventually, he became famous as an illustrator featured in Comiket (short for Comic Market, a comic convention bi-annually held in Japan). He used the pen name Awa Mizuno (水野 亜和, MIZUNO Awa). Akamatsu, still in college, then proceeded to win the Weekly Shonen Magazine award twice. His "A Kid's Game for One Summer" was awarded the coveted 50th Shonen Magazine Newcomer's Award soon after he graduated.
After a big hit with A.I. Love You, he finally made a grand success with his new manga, Love Hina. The series appeared in Weekly Shonen Magazine and has been collected in eleven volumes (with fourteen volumes in total), which have sold over 6 million copies in Japan, and received the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen in 2001.
Akamatsu had added elements of his own life experiences to the story, and this was said to have induced a unique feeling to the manga especially for Western readers, whose lack of familiarity with Japanese culture for the most part added to the effect. The series, published in America in 2002, was especially well received in many overseas countries - Akamatsu was surprised that even foreign readers found Love Hina to be "cute" and to their liking.
He is now married to his wife 'Kanon' Akamatsu, who was previously a singer/idol. He is currently working on his latest manga series, Negima!: Magister Negi Magi, which is his longest running manga so far. Like Love Hina, has also been made into an anime series. A second independent retelling of Negima was made called Negima!?. Both series were produced by XEBEC (Negima!? was produced by SHAFT).

Nastavljamo sa upoznavanjem ucenica ali ovog puta imamo malo vise tenzije plus dosta akcije tako da mnogo vise drzi paznju nego prethodna knjizica.

There is a scene in which a group of 14 year old girls drags a 10 year old boy into a communal bath, strips him and begins fondling him for “comedic” effect. To further the so-called comedy, a talking magical weasel/squirrel friend of the boy shows up and starts to secretly touch the girls in their crotches. There is TONS of semi-nudity fan service in the previous books, which I tolerated, because I was told it starts to go away. In volume 3, it just gets worse, and I am done with this series.

This volume has a lot of funny bits and action. I liked finding out more about The Thousand Master. Just wish there was less naked.

10 year old teacher Negi discovers one of his pupils is a vampire and her partner is a robot! And he gets a visit from Wales. Great volume.

Negima!: Magister Negi Magi just gets better and better. I loved how Negi finally had to start using his magic both to defend himself and for attack. I also liked that he had to pick a partner that will help keep him safe while he is using his magic.
Once again, the artwork is top-notch, the storyline is quick and fun, and the adaptation by Peter David is the best of all the manga series that I have read.
As a surprise, Negi also has a new friend. I am not going to give it away here, you will have to read the book to find out who this is. Needless to say, you will love this new character. Look closely as the book cover and you may see him.
I liked how this entire book was basically one long story, instead of a lot of different short ones. It made the story flow together well.
Overall, Negima!: Magister Negi Magi - Volume 3 is another excellent book in this manga series and I cannot wait to read about more adventures in Negima!: Magister Negi Magi - Volume 4.
I rated this book a 9 out of 10.

This volume really made me realize, THE MAIN CHARACTER IS 10.
He acted so mature and with so much confidence, I didn't give the reality of his age too much thought. Yet, his consistent crying and "running away" seemed to take away from the previous volumes. I enjoy his character very much, but if he continues to skimp out on his duties because he's scared, I'm not sure how much more of these volumes I can take. It really emphasizes how terrified he really was, but still. He HAD defeated a dragon, and collected 200 spells. He should be capable of fighting someone.
Also, the idea of finding a "partner"? I understand his logic, yet suddenly deciding after turning down his crazy class of females... Slightly irritating.
I guess I'm still enjoying this series though, despite the character changes. :)

This volume makes me mostly feel like it's funny, but it contains a lot of action, which makes it even more interesting.I think that my favorite part is the actual Negi's fight with Evangelie. Negi does pactio with Asuna, which gives him opportunity to distract Chachamaru and fight Evangelie directly.I really recommend this book to everyne who likesgood manga.

This book is probably the best in all of Akamatsu's best series. Not only is the artwork fantastic and up to his usual standards, the story is well-told and coherent. If you only read one book in the series, then this is the one. And if you can't read a comic book like this without reading what comes before, there are only two books before it.

Chachamaru's and Evangeline's history is revealed, which was pretty interesting to read in this volume. I liked the deviation from the normal in this volume, and I hope the series continues with the trend of being less like Love Hina and more of its own thing.

In this volume, Negi finds out that his student Evangeline is the vampire that's been biting the students. Now they must face off in a battle of good VS evil in this suspenseful volume that will urge you to read on!

This one is my favorite so far- we learn about some of the more mysterious students in the class...and they become even more mysterious. A vampire is on the loose and seeking revenge...on Negi! This installment was very interesting! The story just took a exciting twist!

A difficult volume to get through that introduces a stereotypically annoying pervy animal sidekick without reducing any of the skeevy fan service.
The friend who loaned me this series promises it'll get better. I really hope it does. For the moment, I remain merely disturbed.
