"Success is defined by a continuing desire to be the person God called you to be and to achieve those goals that God helps you to set," says Charles Stanley. In Success God's Way, Stanley teaches God's principles for success, including ten steps to help you reach God's goals in your life, and what to do about the seven success blockers that entangle believers. "Dr. Stanley has defined success in a timeless manner?knowing and doing the will of God. When a person knows Christ personally and consistently obeys the principles of Scripture, he is prepared for success God's way." ?Franklin Graham, Chairman and CEO, Samaritan's Purse; CEO, Billy Graham evangelistic Association "In a society that increasingly judges the success of individuals by the clothes they wear, the car they drive, the club they belong to, or the career they choose, the church desperately needs to reaffirm biblical standards. Once again, Dr. Stanley has brought clear focus to a timely issue. Success God's Way challenges readers to reexamine whether or not they are sacrificing genuine, lasting success on the altar of a worldly, temporary counterfeit and therefore sesttling for a lot less than what God wants to give them." ?Anne Graham Lotz, International Bible Teacher and Bestselling Author "In an age when our thinking is skewed, our zeal is waning, and our desire for excellence is deadened by apathetic self-centeredness, this book presents many biblical insights that challenge us to hear God's Word to Joshua to meditate on God's Word and be strong and courageous so we can have success." ?Kay Arthur, Precept Ministries International
Dr. Charles F. Stanley is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church Atlanta, founder of In Touch Ministries, and a New York Times best-selling author who has written more than fifty books, and has sold more than nine million copies. He demonstrates a keen awareness of people's needs and provides Christ-centered, biblically-based principles for everyday life.
Charles Frazier Stanley was born September 25, 1932, in the small town of Dry Fork, Virginia. The only child of Charley and Rebecca Stanley, Charles came into the world during a time when the entire nation felt the grip of the Great Depression. To make matters worse, just nine months later, his father Charley died at the young age of 29.
However, Charles refused to let the Great Depression or the difficulties of his life define him. Instead, like his father and grandfather before him, he clung to God’s Word and took up the mantle to preach the gospel to whoever would listen.
Dr. Stanley’s motivation is best represented by the truth found in Acts 20:24, “Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God's mighty kindness and love.” This is because, as he says, “It is the Word of God and the work of God that changes people’s lives.”
Dr. Stanley’s teachings can be heard weekly at First Baptist Church Atlanta, daily on “In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley” radio and television broadcasts on more than 2,800 stations around the world, on the Internet at intouch.org, through the In Touch Messenger, and in the monthly, award-winning In Touch magazine.
It put everyday behaviors into biblical context and how we can align our responses/actions with God's will. I try to re-read this book every year, because it's like a litmus test for where I'm at and what I need to work on. I'm a procratinator and it really helped me to create boundaries and establish behaviors to mitigate things that could be damaging in the long run. It's an easy read and gave me lots of food for thought.
So many books have been written on this subject, but very few ever give actual sound advice. In the volume, Dr. Stanley begins with clear definitions of what he will discuss - - which is a far cry from the world's false definition. His writing gives many examples to draw from, but it never sacrifices the current topic at hand or feels like he is taking us nowhere quickly. On the contrary, his book is rather fast-paced in a practical sense. You might want to purchase your own copy so that you can underline passages or jot things down in the margins.
Amazing book. I'm grateful for the lessons it contains and the confirmation Dr. Stanley provides in that I am living a Kingdom life. Simple truths that are easily applied to our ordinary lives that will make an extraordinary difference. Life is a series of choices and those choices determine whether you live an abundant life or simply exist. The Bible provides a firm foundational Truth from which to grow. Read the Bible and consider Dr. Stanley's theology regarding success God's Way. I believe it will change and bless your life.
I’ve read a lot of success books but this one is a blend of walking in faith and practical application. It offers a great perspective on how God cares about our success in life, be it family, financial, or spiritual.
When of the best books I've ever read on having a successful (in God's eyes) Christian life. Very practical advice. I appreciate that Dr. Stanley always has "points" to help us put practical matters to use.
A very insightful book on how to direct your energy into achieving your goals in a God honoring way and gaining eternal rewards. I enjoyed how he provides lists and easy to remember bullets. Very simple and straightforward to read and understand.
This is an inspirational thought provoking book that is easily read. A guide for everyone who wants to be successful....and surprising at just what successful means!
A gift, included a signature by charles stanley with ps. 16:11 quoted, “thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence (is) fulness of joy; at thy right hand (there are) pleasures for evermore.”
Pretty solid read, like Covey with Scriptural prooftexts. At times a tad legalistic (eg., god treats you in direct proportion to the way you treat others -- not sure about that!), but very good treatment of how God desires success, personal growth, etc. Talks about priorities, time management, issues impacting success, etc. Replete with Scriptural references, examples from Old and New Testaments -- David, Moses, Paul, et al. Some very practical advise on how to plan, prioritize, continue development.
God centered goals and ambitions are what differ the Christian from one who is not. These goals in turn bring honor and glory to God, and that is where the Christian gets their fulfillment and sense of purpose - making much of God and who He is.
Success then is defined as becoming the person God calls you to be and fulfilling and achieving the goals He helps you set for your life.
A crucial concept and truth is in that definition - it is not so much that goals and desires and dreams are in themselves sinful; it is who they end up exalting that determines whether they are good or evil.
I enjoy reading Stanley's books and this one was no different. He does a great job of incorporating scripture into a guide for achieving success and purpose in life. There's quite a bit of material covered here, everything from work and money to attitudes and relationships. A great book to help get you on the right path. As with the other Stanley books I've read, it is very heavy with scripture.
I read this for the second time, and loved it once again. Very basic stuff, but stated in a practical and convincing way that is true for everyone. Great reminders on what it means to be a success and how to get there. It's a call to action!
Charles Stanley is my favorite Christian author, and this is probably my favorite book that he has written. This book teaches success from the perspective of God. As always, Stanley lucidly covers the topic at hand.
Great book for anybody, especially Christians. This book helps anyone who wants to set a goal. It covers the mechanics of goal setting as well as what you will put in it from inside of you.
This book is for those who want practical and biblical advice on how to set goals that will be successful if you do it God's way. I listened to this on audio and I am very glad I did. You should too!
