I enjoyed Kurt's climbs, adventure, and overall stories. I wish that he wrote more about the legendary Hermann Buhl in the ascent of Broad Peak and the lost diaries. Overall, I enjoyed reading about Kurt's many climbs to the Himalayas and around the globe. Great set of 3 books from Kurt dealing with his life in the mountains where there is always summits and secrets, and the spirits of the air always create an endless knot.
"The Endless Knot" is one of my favorite climbing books and this collection of Diemberger's is a great read. The author does much more then write travel or even adventure books. He really writes about what draws him to the high mountains and what standing on them means in addition to the physical and emotional commitment needed to climb the high mountains of the world involves.
A book that shows greatness in its appreciation of the Himalaya. An understanding of mountains and mountaineering and ultimately a huge sadness at the fate that high altitude climbing often succumbs to. A masterpiece from one of the worlds greatest survivors. Undoubtedly one of the most important mountain tragedy books written by a man witnessing desperate plight.
