3.5 stars. It was interesting in a depressing sort of way. I felt really bad for his family by the end of it. We would not have been friends.

Overall, eye opening. Growing up by the Fred Varley Art Gallery, I just pictured him as this old grumpy guy. He became that, but his youth and middle age were very dramatic...

I got what I deserved for my selfish reasoning choosing to read this book. I wanted to hear more about his time living in Unionville, my home town, at the end of his life. There were maybe two paragraphs devoted to this.
