This series is a joy to read, and R is for….is no exception.
If you’re new to the series,it’s about shaking things up at club Las Palmas.
Because the Masters and subs need something to get them out of their comfortzone.
So,they’re all paired up with different people than they usually play with, unless they’re in a relationship.
And they’re assigned a letter, with various possibilities,to use in their scenes.

The letter R has Master Ben,aka Ilias, and Josslyn.
They’re going to be doing some of the more hardcore stuff, but haven’t played together before.
What i loved, was that even though Ilias may be a sadist,he is a conscientious Dom.
He is determined to give Josslyn the experience she deserves, even if it hurts, badly.
They have a connection, right from the start, and are a perfect fit.
Josslyn has a past that left her with some very painful memories, and as she starts to share them with Ilias,he finds he wants to help her deal with them.
In return,Josslyn is determined to show Ilias he’s doing everything she wants, and more.
That he is in fact the perfect man for her….

Through their shared love for pain, they start to bond.
With their honesty, they build a good foundation for something more.
Another great addition to the series, and i look forward to the letter S….

The attention to detail is so good. This is my first book by this author but clearly they know their BDSM stuff. What a journey. Am looking forward to checking out the other letters-especially S.

L. Dubois has delivered another wonderful read in the Checklist series with R is for... She manages to write in-depth characters while delivering positively sexy scenes in our favorite club, Las Palmas. Ilias is a strict but very caring top that wants what he wants while Josslyn is a woman that wants to submit but also be very pleasing in the correct way. While discussing their letter these two learn so much more than anticipated or ever thought they would, that actually leads to a very special connection in such a short time. It is fun to read these stories and see how each couples comes at their pairing in so many different ways. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

WOW, just WOW!

'R is for...' is one I've been anticipating for a long time as the letter R in the BDSM alphabet brings up SO many fun possibilities and once again L. DuBois has not shied away or disappointed. Ilias and Josslyn's trip through the letter R is filled with raw, intense openness and simmering heat, you can see how these two are meant to be paired, in more ways than one.

We briefly met Ilias in 'Q is for...' as a friend of Tareq and from the start you can see this group of friends are struggling with the proposition and position the overseers at Las Palmas have thrown their way. I loved how we got to see a vulnerable side of a Dom who was mindful of his role to ensure Josslyn settled into her submission, while Josslyn had to accept she was not a burden for her proclivities. I loved how the letter R played out and the scenes were HAWT! There are trigger warnings in place for this book as for some readers the content may not be appropriate. However, L. DuBois has masterfully written another BDSM book with sensitivity and well researched kinks that fit this letter so beautifully to create an alluring and stimulating read.

Aside from the sexiness, there was vulnerability, tenderness, acceptance and understanding from both Ilias and Josslyn and once again L. DuBois has managed to make me frustrated in this short and sweet snippet of these two great characters.

As with all of this series it can be read as standalone but I thoroughly recommend you read the 'Checklist' series in order to gain the benefit as we see characters we have previously met and ones we've yet to meet (hello letter S!) too. Letter R was well played out and I can only wait im(patiently) for more!

Per the author's note: 'This book contains a rape fantasy scene. It's consensual non-consent within the context of this story. This may be difficult for some readers and I appreciated the author sharing which chapters contain possible triggering scenes. Read at your own discretion.

Josslyn is a submissive masochist, who has never had her needs fully met. A husband who died too young, and made her feel like a burden. She is a strong capable woman, who hasn't found the one to meet her needs until Ilias.

Ilias Bennani aka Master Ben is a sadist, who plays with partners who give him their full and complete submission. A careful, insightful Dom who plans an executes scenes to meet everyone's needs.

This is an intense story, with intense scenes and a couple that thrives in the sadist and masochist dynamic. They are perfect for each other and have amazing chemistry.

I was completely entrenched in their story until the last chapter. The transition from the end of chapter 15 to chapter 16 was a huge disconnect for me. It jumped and it felt like part of their story was cut. The ending also felt very abrupt, leaving me feeling shoved out of a story I very much wanted to continue. I needed more of a segue after the intensity of what happened. I received an advanced copy and the published book may have changed.

If you aren't familiar with the series, DuBois uses various letters of the alphabet to explore/explain aspects of BDSM. The book begins with both an author's note and trigger warnings. Please read these and decide if the book is meant for you. DuBois is honest about the book's contents.

The intimacy in the book rests in the conversations, not the scenes. In other books of the series the characters play honesty games. Here we see two people being honest from the beginning and we get to see their relationship build. We know very little about them, really, but what we do know matters. It is the development of the relationship that matters. Sadist/masochist pairings can turn literature dark quickly, but this one does not.

Quite frankly, the book isn't long enough. I don't need more scenes at the club. I want to know what happens. I know, he collars her, but still...

A couple of observations:
1) A few punctuation errors
2) DuBois already used the Spanish donkey or wooden pony in O. It's handled more responsibly here. It is an undisguisable form of torture, but at least here Ilias is more careful, conscientious, and aware. Ilias at least as the excuse of the checklist, but every Dom/Domme who uses it should also be forced to experience it.
3) Nice hooks to past novels as well as enticing readers to want to read S.

My favorite of the series so far! Ilias and Josslyn’s chemistry is sweet, scary, and deeply intimate. I love how they both surprise each other.

In this case “R” is strict Rules, Ropework, Rubber/latex compression, and CNC. It’s a lot. The book’s intensity is balanced by how beautifully they communicate.

Content Warning (and respect for how it’s written).
In “R is for….” there’s an explicit CNC scene and it’s so well set up. By the time it comes readers understand the paradox of consensual forced behavior and how common the fantasy is among all women, not just the kinky ones. We also see her desire for the scene and how her trust in him is clear. It’s still hard to read.

This is an enormous series of novellas that take you A to Z through around 100 different kinks, and is set in a posh kink club in the Malibu Hills. In each book a couple is assigned a letter of the alphabet, and over 2 weekends they must work through every kink that starts with that letter.

My wish for this whole series is that there be one more chapter about their post-checklist relationship. I don’t need to know if they married or had kids. I *do* want to know how it lasted once they were living in the day-to-day outside of the club. In the Author’s Note, Dubois says she *will* do a wrap-up book once the series is complete.

Jocelyn had struggled to get her needs as a sub met during her marriage. It seems her late husband just tolerated her bdsm needs but she had to lead him so was very unsatisfied. She's paired with Ilias, who recognises her needs and gently guides her through their letter, which ultimately includes a rape fantasy, something that is prepared for with discussion and very tastefully and sensitively dealt with.

The problem for me is that this series has become pretty much sex by numbers. Previous books have had interaction between the characters outside their dungeons, with a reasonable story alongside the sex. This story is almost entirely just discussion of sex, bdsm & scenes and then blow by blow tedious description of each act. I just found it really boring and struggled to get through it. The characters did not engage me in any way; the discussions were like watching paint dry at times and the descriptions of scenes were clinical in their detail. I was given an advance copy to review and really wanted to enjoy this book. Problem is that without a full and engaging back story to support the sex it becomes just bland. If, like me, you look for a bit of 'meat' in your reading, the sadly I really can't recommend this story.

Ilias is Perfect for Josslyn....But is Josslyn Ready for Ilias…

Ilias is going to find out that all of his plans will need to be re-evaluated after having his talk with Josslyn prior to starting the game and their assigned letter "R." The next installment in this Wonderful Series know as 'The Checklist Game!"

Let me state this: Ms. Dubois did an excellent job of navigating and handling things that could/would be triggers for most everyone. I applaud how it was handled and appreciate the warnings.

With that said: Ilias found that his sub in essence was not getting what she needed and he was determined to change that. And through their discussions was able to navigate and bring out the best in her. And with him helping her, she helped him and together they navigated the intricate situation associated with their letter and came up with a solution that worked for the both of them. She gave him her trust and he gave her something he has not done before - he gave her his heart. Together they can do anything both in and out of the club - that is if she is willing to try.

Are we ready for the letter R in the Checklist? I don't think anyone is ever ready for the BDSM checklist. But us not being ready has never stopped Lila DuBois nor has it ever stopped us from reading each new book in the series.

So what BDSM things can you think of starting with the letter R? Rope? Check. Restraint? Check. Ra ...? Not going there.

The pairing for the letter R are Master Ben aka Ilias and Josslyn. Master Ben is known for being what is a master Dom. He is very intense and very dominating. And Josslyn has been struggling as a sub since she is not finding herself going into sub space. She hasn't been finding the release she needs from the doms she has scened with at the very exclusive Las Palmas. But she has never done a scene with Master Ben. Can these two be meant to be? Read the book to find out.

Seriously, read the Trigger Warnings at the start of the novel. This is a well written novel and it is a work of fiction. But the material in this novel are accurate descriptions of BDSM scenes. This book is not for the faint of heart. Read the trigger warnings from the author first please. It is not for every reader.

This book was firing on all cylinders, and then it just...stopped. I wanted to know what happened with this couple, as they truly seemed to be establishing bonds. But that conversation doesn't happen. As this entry in the Checklist series deal with the letter R, one of the most challenging of fantasies is a part of it. DuBois does a great job with the r**e fantasy, to the point that when the actual even happens I could tell how staged it was and how much play was in it. But there's so much left unsaid. Ilias and Jocelyn seem to be building a connection, but everything was framed through their scenes, which left me wondering if they had anything outside of them.

DuBois writes this as wonderfully as the rest of the series. I just feel like I scraped the surface of these characters instead of being immersed in them.

Another checklist couple and another great story. This time the couple has the letter R and one of the items on the list is very challenging. Ilias and Josslyn didn't know each other but early on had conversations in which gives them insight into the other person. As these two worked through the items on their list, they were a good balance for each other - Josslyn's soft side vs Ilias's hard side. As a Dom, Ilias made the necessary changes to the plan as gauged Josslyn's reactions. For Josslyn, she was finally able to fully submit. There is one item on the list which was tastefully handled, especially with the conversation beforehand between the two of them. I'm looking forward to seeing what the letter S has in store.

Intricate, Emotional and Exceptional!!

If you are new to this series (or not, actually), hang on to your hat. R could be a “tough” letter. It is true of most in this series, but especially for “R”; it is so personal and delicately crafted the results are exquisite.

Assigned a letter, and assigned a partner - much is out of your control. But this discussion of hard limits and power exchange is most in-depth and gives an excellent insight into each of these characters. We have a sub who has not been well treated. We have a Dom who is excellent, but a bit rigid. Together these two become an incredible pairing. Absolutely scintillating.

This was another great letter in the series. Not only do we get all the kinky things under the letter R but we also got a very interesting plot and characters. I really liked Ilias and Josslyn as they were characters that were deep. They opened to each other and both were rewarded for that trust and vulnerability. They both felt a true connection with the other. I was so sad to see the book end. I wanted more of this couple and to see them take this outside the club. I always find it fascinating to see them make it work. After all we all live in the real world. This is one couple that I want to see make it work.

Now I just have to anxiously await for what DuBois has planned for us with the letter S.

Let your imagination go wild and find yourself at Las Palmas, cause it feels real. While this story is all about domination and submission in a club setting, between the lines it goes so much deeper. First in he fact that the overseers have hand picked the couples, and yet this couple who never met are exploring play that requires the ultimate trust. Ilias and the other DOMs thinking and planning, the protectiveness and care that they take with these women is heartwarming. Josslyn has been floating along as a SUB but Ilias prompts her to really search for her true self. This read is extremely graphic but also thoughtful and touching, loved it!

Beautifully Written! With this type of storyline, I go into it thinking that I will have to really pay attention, this will be intense and detailed… and it is… BUT, Lila makes it so easy to read and enjoy! I love the flow of the story. I love the characters, they feel real. I love their interactions and their development. I love the detailed story; you can picture everything in your mind and it`s delicious! It`s such a feast for all the senses! I always come out of all of the BDSM Alphabet books amazed with Lila Dubois and her stories! Ilais/Master Ben and Josslyn’s story is certainly memorable! Five Stars again!!

Lila DuBois has done an incredible job with the alphabet series. This a wonderful journey of BDSM. After getting this far into a series, I have found that it is not repetitive, and adds a nice segue into the next letter "S". The letter "R" explores some of the slightly stronger kinks and the mental and emotional interactions that each person involved must explore in preparing for something so intense. But without also losing the unpredictability of the experience. This a fascinating thread through the entire story including the ending which was well done. I thoroughly enjoyed Master Ben and Jocelyn.
Make sure you read the trigger warnings.

Well this one could have played out so differently than it did!

I love the discussions that Ilias and Josslyn have during their scenes and the fact that they seem to be way more attracted to the other than they have been with others.  I like that Ilias is so concerned for Josslyn, especially knowing her background. I like how Josslyn is so concerned for Ilias and takes his needs into consideration. Probably more than necessary, but he points that out!

Love the Alphabet series and always look forward to the next!

I just love the alphabet, Ms. Dubois' alphabet that is!

Always intense, always voyeuristic, always sexy to this reader!

In a one-sitting read, because I couldn't put it down, we get wonderful characters and an exploration into their kinks!

Joslynn had better use her safe-word if needed otherwise, Master Ben may just have to use his rope and delve out a bit of punishment!

Will she be like all the other subs, or will Joslynn "soften" this hard dom?

The references to "S" have me so curious, and hoping for a long visit!

Ilias and Josslyn are paired and given R as their checklist letter. From their first meeting to discuss their checklist items to the ultimate trust scene for their assigned letter, Ilias and Josslyn realize their connection with each other and the scenes that follow demonstrate their building of open communication and trust. L. DuBois's build up to the last scene addressed vulnerabilities and needs carefully scrutinized and beautifully met. L. DuBois adds another exceptional addition to the Checklist series.

It might not seem like it, considering how many months after I read this book, but R was my most anticipated letter and let me tell you something: Lylah freaking delivered.

BDSM mixed with the emotional factor is a thing of beauty. When you find the other side of your soul, one that is as in tune with your feelings as they are with your body reaction, submitting isn't an obligation, it turns into a need.

This book was heartfelt, sexy and entertaining. I loved it so much and I want everyone to read this book.

R is for... so many possibilities fall under the letter. Will it bring pain? or Pleasure? Will the bonds of trust and truth and the unknown burst forth into gasps of delight or moans of despair? Josslyn's sweet side is challenged and she struggles to accept that desire is not all dreams. Ilias's vulnerable side is tested as he wraps his needs around his wants. There are trigger warnings that should be taken seriously. R can be a dangerous letter for those who only want lightness.

Another fun letter with some surprises. Ilias and Josslyn's story has personal growth, shows what good communication can provide to a relationship and, of course, fun, kinky sex as only Lila know how to write. I enjoy getting to "experience" erotic play, that I may not have read about or experienced in real life and know that even some, more difficult, topics will be addressed in a way that the reader may be less likely to be triggered by.

This is part of the Checklist Series but is read as a standalone. This book features the letter R. There is one scene that could cause a trigger, but the author did a wonderful job of writing. This has been an amazing BDSM series with lots of creativity. You'll love Joslyn and Ilias and the way they each help the other grow. An amazing story that's hard to put down. Within minutes of introducing themselves Master Ben AKA Ilias Bennani determines that Josslyn has never fully submitted to a Dom. In fact she seems to often try to subconsciously top from the bottom. Ilias is a careful, by the book Dom. He finds that he needs to disabuse Josslyn from a boatload of insecurities and preconceived notions because of past experiences He finds that after just 24 hours he wants more with her and wants to exlore that. Josslyn is amenable

I loved this book. Ms Dubois has done it again. Josslyn & Ilias were wonderful together. The author could have trivialized or glossed over portions of the R list but instead she chose to tackle them head on. She did it with respect and love. Her content warning at the beginning of the book gave the reader an idea of what to expect but also how a road map of how she was planning on handling those elements.

What an emotional, raw, passionate and nerve racking journey both Josslyn and Ilias undertake with their assignment for the Letter R…will they be able to learn, adjust, communicate and feel for each other or will this assignment bring them to their knees. Trigger warnings are in place for those that may need them…please read them before proceeding.

Despite the intense scenes, the conversations between Master Ben and Josslyn really show that the key to being in this lifestyle is COMMUNICATION. Our main characters have plenty of deep and illuminating conversations during their time exploring the Letter R. While my favorite Checklist books have been the earlier ones, the series is still going strong and keeping me entertained.

This well-written BDSM story has a bit of romance which is a big plus for me because some of the stories in this series do not. I like the characters and how well they fit each other. Ilias and Josslyn are complete strangers when they are teamed together but they have genuine chemistry, and before long, a relationship, aside from Dom and sub, begins to blossom. I enjoyed this book and this couple.
