Recommends it for: self-taught graphic designers
Shelves: design
Clear, practical instruction. I'm fairly familiar with InDesign, but I found some helpful techniques and keyboard shortcuts here. It's a good reference when I blank on a technique that I don't use as often.

This book is good enough to gather a working knowledge about InDesign, but it will never be enough if you want to use it for professional DTP work. The book is nice for beginners, but after a while the examples start to feel really silly. And come on: who would ever want to use InDesign as a word processor (as the author claims to do)!?
I will abandon this one (I've read the first 5 sections) for a better in-depth book.

Named for exactly what it is - for the Non-Designer. Love this book as much as I've enjoyed every other book I have written by Robin P. Williams. Bravo!

Learnt some new things - just have to remember them when working in InDesign. Provides not only info about the program but info about general design as well.
