About the author

Scott Blumenthal and Brett Hodus met on September 14th, 1999, the day that the two of them boarded the SS Universe Explorer for a 100-day voyage around the world. The two of them, one from California and the other from New York, immediately became the closest of friends. One night, Scott and Brett became inspired. They spoke about their love for sports and their belief that they both could make a difference in this world. In the early hours of the morning, a dream was born. Scobre Press Corporation was to be the means by which Scott and Brett could apply their writing abilities and love of sports to the real world. They decided to start a publishing company that would bring children into the minds and hearts of their sports heroes. This book helps students understand the basic values that Judaism is based upon. It allows students to understand how they can really make a difference. I particularly liked Blumenthal's ability to maintain his focus on his audience and his approach to the "Ripple Effect". It provides opportunities for students to evaluate their own lives--and to pick discrete, manageable projects with each topic. It has bright pictures, a modern look and feel, and enough room to write as a workbook. As a congregation, we are taking these values, introducing the Hebrew that goes with it and as adults talking about the values that make up being part of the covenant.
