Drawing on the wisdom of ancient scriptures and contemporary thinkers from many world traditions, tapping into her own and other disciples’ real-life stories and insights, Karpinski shares the Twelve Lessons of Spiritual Craftsmanship that are essential to the disciple’s path.
These easy-to-follow lessons are divided into three Knowing the Way explores the ways we recognize and understand our mission through Knowledge, Revelation, Body Wisdom, and Discernment; Becoming the Way illuminates the fundamental building principles of strong Love, Will, Faith, and Power; and Fulfilling the Way reveals the practical process through which we bring our journey to fruition by Creating, Transforming, Enduring, and Serving. Integration, balance, and wisdom are the benefits of the twelve lessons, the treasured syntheses of yin and yang, light and shadow, heaven and earth. Full of exciting, effective spiritual exercises, Barefoot on Holy Ground leads readers purposefully along the path to Conscious Evolution so that they can embrace their higher calling.
Gloria Karpinski is the perennial Wise Woman. Her words and insights remain as pertinent today as during my first reading many years ago. I glean more with each reading and highly recommend this book to Wisdom seekers of all ages. Many thanks for this amazing book.
It seems like a hundred years ago I read Gloria Karpinski's first book. I stumbled upon it in a bookstore while looking for something else. It was the right book at the right time. All these years later, I stumbled upon her second book while looking for something else. It was also the right book at the right time.
This is a book meant to be read in sections with space in between. The sectioning of material into twelve parts is no cute marketing trick; the material is dense and digesting it all in one quick read would probably cause the mental and spiritual equivalent of indigestion. I can easily see reading one chapter a month, giving each section an chance to "percolate" in the mind before moving on. It's material to be chewed slowly and fully, not mindlessly swallowed whole while paying attention to ten other things. This is not a multi-tasker's book, nor is it for someone looking for InstaSpirit Platitude Snacks (tm). It took me seven months to read it, and I still feel like I need to go back to certain sections and give them more time and thought.
I can't say there is really any "new" information in the book, but Karpinski's manner of presentation and stimulating inner dialogue is praise-worthy.
This is a primer for walking the talk. If you're looking for meaning in your life and then asking how to apply it in the most practical of ways, this is a must-read. Karpinski helps us to connect with our spiritual blueprint, as well as others who are on the path.
