THE TRUTH CAN BE FOUND! You will be inspired by these ten amazing stories—extreme seekers who walked different paths in life, yet shared one common love for the truth. They knew religion could never satisfy their thirst. They longed for true spirituality and the unveiling of Ultimate Reality. Co-authors Sid Roth and Mike Shreve were both extreme seekers. Sid practiced psychic mind control. Mike ran a Kundalini Yoga ashram. Then they both had amazing encounters with God that changed everything. Their spiritual journeys are featured in this book, along with eight Why were these stories combined in one book? Because they all finally received a similar supernatural awakening that dramatically changed the course of their lives. Not only did they seek the truth; THEY FOUND IT!
Sid Roth is an American author, actor, and Christian media figure. From one of his book bios: "Sid Roth has a passion for people to experience the power of God for the purpose of having intimacy with Him. He is a pioneer in the convergence of Jews and Christians in Messiah Jesus that brings about an explosion of God s power."
Ten stories of people who were looking for truth, mostly in Eastern religions, but some through drugs, and eventually found Christianity. Although written in 2011, all ten cases were based in the '60s and '70s. I didn't know what to make of most of these people claiming to see spiritual beings and having power like light emanating from their fingertips. Their process stories (going through Hinduism or whatever) included so many odd supernatural things that it made me question the honesty of the story tellers. I'm glad they found Christianity, but I wonder about them. What are they doing now? Are they rational and orthodox? Sorry to say, but although the stories were interesting, the book just felt a little sleazy.
The synopsis of this book drew me in because I was eager to hear the stories of people who experienced "supernatural revelation". As someone seeking a closer relationship with God, I was looking forward to hearing the stories of those who have witnessed ultimate reality.
What I found were 10 stories that were so similar in nature that I found the book not inspirational, and the experiences of the individuals made the book a little drab, where I expected to be energized by their stories.
Each individual sought the truth through assorted New Age spiritual practices. They all either found the experience empty or found that their contact with the supernatural realm was not of God. In time, they prayed/meditated for the real truth and experienced a brief supernatural encounter with Jesus that turned their lives around.
Im happy that these individuals have grown in their walk with God but I didn't find much inspiration in reading their stories. They all indicate that similar experiences are possible to anyone who sincere I their faith. I'm sure many, many people are just as sincere as they but don't have similar experiences. The book left me a little skeptical.
This book was so enlightening! It was nice to see non believers become believers especially after everything they went though to finally see the light. That Jesus is the way and only way. I was raised Catholic, from the 60's which what I remember is that they put the fear of God in us. We grew up with no real bible in the house or in church. Which looking back at being odd. A few years ago I started going to a Christian church and I was baptised in a river in Colorado. My own choosing. Since then I have read the whole bible and I'm trying to practice the ways of the Lord. Books like this really let me see that it was better to stay with the Lord Jesus Christ then to veer off the path of God into other religious cultures.
this book was totally not what I thought it would be; 10 very very strange people who were high for years and years on alcohol and drugs and searched in their stupor across the globe to find God; oy! I wonder why the publisher felt it was worth printing and why I was drawn in to read all 10 stories, same, same, same, repetition after repetition .. but I finished it and was completely dumbfounded at these people and their wasted early lives .. wow! sorry, by 1.99999 cents worth ..
10 people wanted desperately to see and know God but the devil took that to his own. People. Imagine the time, sitting still for so long only to get high on something or see something or someone for just a second and the things they see are demons in lies.
10 people find him when they gave up on their own knowledge 🙄 or understanding. God showed up.
Thank you, Sid Roth and Mike Shreve, for sharing this experience with us and telling us the right way to seek god and know him deeply.
Superb, highly recommended. If you are seeking truth this book is for you! Amazing true life accounts, will open your eyes and heart. Love this book and the Spiritual Encouraging it delivers. Be sure to watch Sid Roth show It's Supernatural. You will never be the same!
Truth Seekers is an amazing look at the extent in which the Lord will reveal Himself to those who are truly seeking Him. It's a quick, fascinating read.
Recommend to readers who enjoy inspirational non-fiction.
I borrowed a copy from a friend. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
This book is a compilation of the stories of ten different people who were sincere seekers of the truth. Some of them were even raised in Christian homes but as one writer said, found it to be "boring" (at least in the church they had attended). The common denominator between all of these people is that they turned to methods that promised a higher consciousness, or enlightenment. Many were children of the 60's where drug use was rampant to help obtain this state of being; however, the sincere truth seekers soon realized what havoc this was wreaking on their minds and bodies so stopped doing that but continued seeking other methods of obtaining a high.
What was fascinating to me was the insight into what these methods (TM, New Age practices, Far Eastern religions, etc) actually do and promote. This information is coming from people who have actually been on the inside and even had become leaders of these methods. Lot's of interesting and informative information. Some even intentionally deceive about what their practices really are . . . yoga, for example, has been touted as a harmless relaxation method that anyone can use when in fact it is more than that. You will have to read to find out . . . !
This book struck at a perfect moment in my spiritual walk -- a college-age Christian struggling against a pull toward Eastern forms of spirituality. I wish I could get all my friends to read this book, because we are constantly barraged by invitations to blend our beliefs with more 'open-minded' practices. Post-moderns aren't going to listen to someone tell us that 'meditation gives demons access to your soul' or whatever for the tenth time...but stories like these will make us stop short and make us question the path we're on. All of these stories were from individuals who got deep into these practices, deep enough that they experienced many of the phenomena that the spiritually curious tend to drool over. They lived with a high level of spiritual 'power' but watched as God changed their minds and hearts -- and the insight they provide into the deception is invaluable. Praise God, He sent this at the right time for me.
Sid and MIke made a brilliant selection of ten very relevant life experiences encompassed by the saving grace of Christ Jesus. In our world today we are battling spiritual warfare as never before since creation and the opportunity to experience salvation by accepting Jesus as Savior coming to a close. I HIGHLY recommend this book to any and everyone not absolutely positive where they are going after this life. The answer lies within the pages of this exciting, well written book, excellent read.
this book helped me understand why dRives people to New Age and other mystical religions. It also showed me how good the Lord truly is and how he never gave up on any one of them. This book also by God's grace helped me identify some doors I had opened in my younger days when I was looking for the Truth, the . Way and the Life. I recommend this book to those who are wondering how the true God is different from the experiences they have had in mysticism.
If you ever had doubts or questions about life after death and Jesus, please read this. Each of these ten people did serious study of everything but Jesus to try and find peace. Their stories explain the dark side of meditation, yoga, and any type of "study" to find inner peace. Please, read this.
LOVED this book. The testimonies are gripping and powerful. Former Buddhists, atheists, a Jew who found Jesus, the Messiah to be the source, life and fulfillment of life-long searches. I was so encouraged and confirmed in my faith! As I finished reading one story, I couldn't wait to get on to the next one. Very well-written.
Although I am not into witchcraft, yoga or any other new age, it sure was informative. It opened my eyes to see how sneaky the devil can be. So innocent at first but then BOOM!!
