Rate this book
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author S.L. Scott brings the charm and romance, smiles and laughs to Along Came Charlie. This friends-to-more novel is packed with heartfelt emotion reminiscent of the best of chick lit of the past with a modern twist for today’s readers.

~~~
I’ll be your date, and you’ll be mine.
Who says a funeral can’t be romantic?
Okay, everyone. Including myself.
That doesn’t stop the rumor mill from turning when I show up with a beautiful redhead on my arm.
That redhead also just happens to be a stranger, relatively speaking. Charlotte Barrow and I have run into each other a few times—on the subway, at a bar, and now on our way to separate funerals. Instead of the prodigal son who let his parents down showing up alone, I traded favors and brought a date. The deal made sense at the time.
~~~

You be my date, and I’ll be yours.

Who knew bringing a date to your ex-fiancé’s funeral would cause such a stir?
Technically, I did.
I invited him anyway for moral support. It didn’t hurt that he was handsome.

The cold-hearted stares that greeted us didn’t matter. We found comfort in each other and formed a friendship from there. Charles Adams was nothing like my ex. The pressure wasn’t there to be anyone other than who I was. He also loved my cupcakes as much as I enjoyed his company.

I always dreamed of finding my soul mate, and then along came Charlie. My perfect match was right here all along. Did I realize it too late?

Despite how crazy the premise might sound, this might have to be one of the most realistic romance books I’ve read in a long time. If someone told me to describe what “falling in love the natural way” meant, I’d simply hand this book over to them. The neighborly run-ins, the time spent together, the buildup. It’s all there. It’s like a no-frills (ok maybe a little frills) guide to getting your subway crush to fall in love with you.

It’s fast-paced, taking you through month-long happenings in just a few hours, but not leaving you feeling as though you’re being rushed. It’s like being on an airplane. You might be traveling at 600 mph but you certainly won’t feel like it.

Will the name thing get confusing though? Oh yes, it most certainly will.

Overall, I’d say it’s a decent look into how strangers become oh so much more.

Ms Scott writes relationships perfectly…she gets the intimacies and the connection of them no matter what kind of relationship they are…in this we start with a friendship that is destined to be more. Two people who just connect, have fun, trust each other and have random silly conversations that only they can understand….
Their journey to more is a slow burn but it builds the foundation for something lifelong and lasting.
I loved both the Charlie’s. I appreciated the time they took and the struggles that Charlotte had to overcome in order to be true to not just herself but also Charles.

A delightful New York romance that’s super sweet, funny and leaves a warm feeling in your heart!

I love a true slow burn. They are new found friends supporting each other during a hard time turned lovers!! I feel it makes for a more authentic relationship and I appreciated that.

I also love the dual POV as we get to see both working through their emotions and need for the other. There’s so much packed into these two I couldn’t put it down!

"I can’t stop the smile. It’s there, natural, just for her."
This is a really sweet read with a hero who is just what you need if you've had your heart broken.
And couch dates, which may not be fancy but are my favorite kind of date.

"Something about Charlie makes me trust him. I think it’s his eyes and the truths that are so evident in them."
I'm going to start with Charlie because he steals the show. He's so considerate, so tender, so caring, so patient. Any guy who trades everything for the chance to cuddle on the couch with you on a Saturday afternoon is a keeper.

"Charlie. Her name makes me smile in the dark of my room. She makes me smile."
I liked Charlie most of the book. I found her relatable due to certain things that happened in my own life, but unfortunately, I also wanted her to open her eyes, be less self-absorbed, and look less into the past. She's the reason why this is a 4.5 and not a 5 for me.

"With my eyes closed, I breathe her in. She’s all the air I need."
As you have already noticed, they're both named Charlie, Charlotte and Charles, and that was pretty unique. They meet when they’re out with friends, and from the start, you can see there's something there. And then they have the weirdest "date" when they accompany each other to two different funerals.
Before you ask, yes, the hero falls first.

"I know I’ve fallen hard for the woman when everything slows as if in a movie."
They give in for one moment, but then they decide they're better off as friends. And they are because they help each other heal. The time they spend together is packed full of small touches, sweet words, and… sleeping.
Soon, they start missing each other, and that's where you see this hero as the amazing guy he is.

"This might be all we ever are, and being the loser I am, I’d take it. I’d settle for this if this is all she can give me."
The heroine is not weak, but she annoyed me by constantly going back to her ex in her mind. Yes, he played a part in her life, and yes, he was a rich asshole, but that doesn’t mean all rich men are assholes. Some of them will tell their family to fuck off for you. But she doesn't see it.
She does need to find herself and love herself to be able to love Charlie, though. And I got that.

"I’m hoping one day, the memory of his smile will replace the harsh words exchanged tonight and that those memories will outweigh all of the rest."
There's no "traditional" third act breakup because you see it coming and it's not really a breakup anyway. But the way he wins her back is everything, and the fact that she goes to him because she's the one who messed up? That was just right.

Just a warning: this is a closed-door romance, so don't expect major steamy scenes. If you're into something sweet, though, this really hits the spot.

"A kiss that told her she was my forever and a day."
Their HEA was perfect, and you know it will really be a happily ever after because they already know each other so well. They're each other's everything, and their story warmed my heart.

ALONG CAME CHARLIE by S.L. Scott is an endearing story with a meet-cute beginning, a long slow-burning middle, and ultimately, a happy ever after. This one features two Charlies, just to keep you on your toes. Listening to the audible version made it easy to keep the POV's straight, and you shouldn't have too much trouble in the written version either.

Charlotte (Charlie) Barrow isn't looking for love, but somehow it finds her. When meeting number one derails because of Charlotte's loyalty to a friend, she's left wondering about the handsome stranger who made her "feel" for the first time in months. Charles (Charlie) Adams also gets the tingles when he first sees Charlotte, but as that meeting derails and they go their separate ways, fate steps in to make sure our couple isn't left to wander this earth sad and alone forever.

The slow-burn part of this story is where our couple gets to know one another, confide some of their fears and realities, while the sexual tension builds. Charlotte's trust issues are warranted but prove to be too much, and Charles, being the gentleman he is, decides to let fate have her own way. The way Charles is so supportive of Charlotte and sees what she needs both warmed my heart and tore it apart. Parts of this story really hit you where it counts.

Their romance is kind of real; something you envision really happening, but the waiting for these two to get their acts together is kind of a killer. In the end, the book held my attention, kept me interested in what would happen next, and I thoroughly enjoyed the "Charlies". This is a re-publishing of one of the author's earlier works. I enjoyed noticing the different writing styles between the years. Charles' job as an author and the story he is writing throughout this book, is another little tidbit that made me smile, especially when Charlotte gets to read it and realizes it's all about them.

The audible version is narrated by Jason Clarke and Callie Dalton; two new narrators for me. I enjoyed their voices and the way they each portrayed the characters. In the beginning, I felt the male voice sounded older than the twenty-seven-year-old Charles, but I came around quickly and became absorbed in the story. I'm glad I chose to listen to this one!

Along Came Charlie is a bittersweet love story that brings two broken people into each other's life through what can only be described as destiny or fate. Charlie Barrow was still reeling from her painful breakup after finding her fiance cheating on her when a few months later, she got the news that he had died in a skiing accident. His funeral is going to be a reminder of how she never fit into his world of status and wealth. How will she face his family and see the pity and disregard in their faces. Charlie Adams grew up in that same world, but he has turned his back on it rather than live the life that his parents want for him. Instead of going to college and taking over the family business, his true passion is writing, with a novel as his work in progress. But he's lost his passion, his muse, and is anxious to get it back. When the "Charlies" see each other at a bar while out on the town, they are drawn to each other but they are reticent about putting themselves out there. Charlie B doesn't want to date after her spectacular failure, and she insists on keeping every guy she meets in the friend zone. But Charlie A is ready to look for a friend who could be something much more to him. He had a similarly bad experience as Charlie did by falling in love with a woman who wanted him only for his money and what he could give her and, with that in the back of his mind, he's willing to take baby steps with Charlie. He has to prove that he's nothing like her late fiance, Jim, if it's the last thing he does. You can feel Charlie's indecision and fear when she  begins to understand that he's more than her friend, but she is adamant about not falling in love. As she continued to push him away, I really wanted to have a little chat with her and tell her to get a grip! It becomes overwhelming to the point that I didn't know if they could possibly have a happy ending. The sweetness and the crux of the whole story is the fairy godmothers who help to bring them together. Charlie A's Aunt Grace and their good friend, Veronica, pass away and their wills surprise them, but show what is really valued in life. Once Charlie A gives it his best and final shot, he walks away, leaving Charlie B to make the decision as to what she wants for them. The ending was sweet, but I have to say that the epilogue is one of the very best ever!

@ 50% -- I am on the cusp of DNFing this. Not really because there is anything so infuriating or problematic about the story but worse I think, I am so antsy because of how dull the writing is. Might stick around just because I enjoy both Callie Dalton and Jason Clarke's narration.

When I first started this audiobook, it had been on my TBR wishlist for quite some time and I was so intrigued by the blurb that the moment it went on sale I had to sate that curiosity. Add in that it was narrated by this dynamic duo of narrators and I was sold! I just wish that the story had lived up to the intrigue that the summary had enticed.

To be honest, I spent the majority of the story waiting for something to actually happen. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a cute slice-of-life romcom as much as the next person but in those quiet moments there had to be something that kept the story compelling, or else I am left wondering how a story with such charming characters could fall so flat and be presented in the most uninspiring way.

"I want to say I fell in love at first sight. That would be the romantic version but that would not be the truth. I fell in love with the woman who would become my sun, my beacon, my compass, my everything when I sat next to her at a funeral and saw the the depths of sadness and true beauty for the first time."- Charlie A.

That was a quote that stuck out to me when I was listening to this because it had me stepping back and wondering "huh... was that what I was supposed to feel during that funeral scene? Because instead what I felt was anxiously looking around the next corner of the story hoping that that was when the story would actually pick up." The entire thing was so lackluster and uninspiring, I was wondering if maybe there was something wrong with me and why I wasn't finding this as charming or captivating as others who had read this.

Overall, I hope that this gets better for those who do like the story but I think I might actually have to walk away from it at a little over 60%. Chalk it up to the fact that maybe it's just not for me.

Along Came Charlie is a delightfully cute, funny, and emotional story by S.L. Scott. What's better than naming your hero AND heroine Charlie? Nothing.....absolutely nothing! It took me a few chapters to get used to "Charlie A" and Charlie B" but other than that, I loved how original and quirky it was! The characters are fabulous as is the storyline.

Charlie A. is seriously swoony! This gorgeous, reformed, wealthy playboy has forged his own path and found his passion. When he meets Charlie B., his world is flipped upside down. Charlie B. is a happy-go-lucky, fiery redhead who is just all happy and light. She has had her fair share of traumatic heartbreak so she is gun-shy and afraid to get involved with someone from Charlie's wealthy world. But these two form an unbelievably sweet, fun and swoony friendship that will have you seriously feeling some #friendshipgoals! Man, I'd give anything to have Saturday snuggles with Charlie A!!! I loved their witty banter, their tenderness towards one another, and their love for one another. They had so much chemistry and it was only a matter of time until they crossed that line. But just know that this is a seriously slow-burn story so it takes a good chunk of the book for their feelings to finally come out and for them to finally get together. But I wouldn't have had it any other way because the two Charlies were definitely meant to be!

Along Came Charlie will make you laugh and it'll make you cry. It's heartwarming yet also heartbreaking. Don't miss this new beauty by S.L. Scott! 4.5 stars

This was a cute story with some emotional moments. Let’s start off with the name of the hero and the heroine: Charlie and . . . Charlie. Was I confused? Yes. But it was fun reading it.

Charlie Barrow (Charlie B.) is still trying to heal after a heartbreak from her ex-fiance cheating on her. He was rich and from the upper echelons of New York. Charlie B. being the opposite was not accepted by his family. Yet, she still found herself having to attend his funeral.

Charlie Adams (Charlie A.) and Charlie Barrow (Charlie B.) run into each other in the subway butech didn’t speak. As destiny would have it, they meet again when Charlie B’s friend is with Charlie A. at a bar. Charlie A. is from the same background as Charlie B’s ex-fiance; his family is rich and he was a total playboy. But, he’s older now and realizes he wants to get to know Charlie B. He goes out of his way to track her down and get her number so they can talk.

Charlie B. knows his background and being that it’s similar to her ex-fiance’s, she is understandably wary of Charlie A. Thus, their friendship begins. And I’ll say, their friendship is so cute! They have Saturday friend date nights, couch cuddles, and movie marathons. They are always there for each other and supportive of whatever either wants to do. Best friend goals!

Charlie A. respected Charlie B’s decisions and didn’t push her for more. When Charlie B. needed a break, he stepped back because it was what she asked of him. Charlie B. worked on herself and healed. I loved that she took care of herself before truly opening herself up to a relationship with Charlie A. She wanted to be sure she was in a good space and fully healed from her past.

This was probably one of the most realistic stories I have read, and I enjoyed it.

4 ½ Stars… What’s more meet cute than two Charlie’s seeing each other across a crowded train and making a connection with their eyes? Only to meet up again at a bar, where female Charlie’s friend calls dibs on male Charlie, making them platonic friends. Their first “friend” date is to go to two funerals on the same day… first for his Great Aunt and then for her ex-fiancée. They come from two different worlds… he comes from wealthy parents, but broke away to do his own thing, which made his family cut them off. She dabbled in that life thanks to her ex-fiancée, but the fiancée’s family never embraced her, not to mention he cheated on her, and she broke it off.

The Charlie’s spend a lot of time together, at home having movie marathons on Saturday afternoons or just texting one another. They fall into a comfortable pattern of being together, but ‘not’ being together. Yet we, the reader, can see that they are clearly falling for one another and it’s getting harder and harder to keep it from the other. Their banter is on point, and they keep each other sane. But then they attend a dinner at his family’s house after his Great Aunt’s will reading and everything falls apart. Will he be able to get her to see that while he may have come from the same type of world that her ex came from, that he (Charlie) isn’t her ex and he cares about her too much to risk losing her? Will she realize that they were meant to be from the very first day on the train and that they are soulmates?

"With my eyes closed. I breathe her in. She's all the air I need."
This book! Ahhhh! I loved it so much. Charolette and Charles or Charlies.

Charolette- Charlie (F) after dealing with a horrific breakup from her fiancé she's dealing with a lot of insecurities. I wouldn't say these insecurities made her weak but they did have her making choices and having thoughts that were pretty annoying at some parts of the book.
My heart broke so hard for Charlie (M) as I felt that Charlie (F) didn't let him in like he deserved.

Charles - Charlie (M) what a perfect book boyfriend. My heart was so full with him. He was just 100% all in and over the moon for Charlie (F). He fell first, he was kind, patient and just everything that Charlie (F) needed him to be and more.

I really loved the friendship these two had, again, I wish Charlie (F) was a little more open with Charlie (M) and I also would have loved a lot more redemption from her side considering the rather drastic way she ran from her feelings for Charlie (M)

Jason Clarke and Callie Dalton narrated this book.
I loved how Callie portrayed Charlie (F) she was perfect, the self-doubt, the insecurities that weighed so heavily on her, was perfect.

Jason was such a charming Charlie (M) - he was very vulnerable - soft spoken with you don't really get a lot of these days. I just really enjoyed the audio so much.

I really adored the characters and the romantic feel around this story was electrifying. There were so many moments in this book where you were rooting for the lead characters to have their happy ending in the end as you just couldn't help but feel for what they went through. So many little moments that made it very relatable. Truly enjoyed this feelgood story!

Charlotte "Charlie" has been through a lot and when she receives an invitation to a funeral, she doesn't really know if she'll go as it brings back a lot of memories that she'd rather forget. When she meets Charles "Charlie", sparks fly but it doesn't really work out but when she bumps into him again on the day of the funeral, it might change both their futures for good. Their relationship starts to change the more they get to know each other and feelings start to grow. But Charlie (Charlotte) has been hurt badly which has her walls up high and although she wants to give Charlie (Charles) a chance, the fear of getting hurt again takes over. But life doesn't really wait and even though their friendship is solid, Charles wants to make Charlotte see that he's what she needs. Will they find their way to each other in the end?...

3 1/2 stars. It's a longer review, but bear with me.

This is not a typical romance, I think going in with the proper expectations and mind set will help you enjoy it more. In fact, I struggled the the first half, even taking a break and reading another book in between. It's so slow paced and there's not a major plot twist, or dramatics to catch your attention. Taking a break in the middle made me enjoy the 2nd half more. You have to go in knowing that it's a slow build, regular life type of friendship/relationship. I was close to the end thinking it was clean, I don't recall major swearing, and very little by way of a physical, sexual relationship. It felt older, some of the references placed this as not quite current, and I saw at the end, this was her first book apparently being re-released. I appreciate that it wasn't overly modernized. Yes, they had cell phones, but not as much with current, modern conveniences such as door dash and Uber. It felt a little sex and the city, late 90s New York. It's sort of womans fiction meets romance, because you do get the happily ever after, but you also get a lot of normal life.

What started as a subway almost meet cute turned friendship turned love was this book. The fact they were both named Charlie was genius even if it was a little confusing in the beginning. Charlie A was his family's black sheep. Instead of following their wishes, he followed his path. The only one who supported him and loved him unconditionally was his Aunt Grace. Charlie B was finding her way after finding out her fiance cheated on her and then died in a freak accident. Their friendship started out unconventionally...a date to a funeral?!?! Okay... not the ideal first date. As their friendship blossomed, Charlie A and Charlie B truly got to know each other. But then their worlds collided at the reading of Charlie A's aunt's will. Charlie B encountered a part of her recent past that has her rethinking being in Charlie A's world even as a friend. It takes months of soul-searching and healing for B to seek out A and to realize that they belonged to each other. Friends to lovers slow burn made this book sweet and swoony!

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

Now let me tell you, I love the fact that both the main characters in this book are named Charlie. And even better - you have Charlie A and Charlie B... I wanna be Charlie C. Along Came Charlie is a romcom of the best kind. It's sassy, it's quirky, it's steamy, it's funny... as are both Charlies.

This is such a fun romp with Charlies through Manhattan as friends keep insisting they're 'just friends' despite the fact that everyone, including themselves, know they're not 'just' anything. It's all about that moment when you meet the one person that not only is meant for you, but that person in the world who understands you like no other. And who doesn't want that - plus if their name happens to be Charlie... well all the better.

Now I've never read S.L. Scott before (that I know of anyway), and I really love the way this book is written. I'm definately going to be on the lookout for more from this author - if you happen to have an S.L. Scott recommendation for me - hit me up in the comments. If you've never read this author, or just need something new for your absolute reading pleasure - ALONG CAME CHARLIE releases this week, so click and read.

Charlotte (Charlie)Barrow is 25 and her ex-fiance has died and his family has invited her to the funeral. She had caught him cheating on her and called off the engagement. She doesn't want to go but knows she has too.

Charlie Adams, 27 comes from a family of wealth and status but he has turned his back on that and all it entails. He had his own goals and dreams he wanted to pursue, which is to be an author and writer.
He has received a funeral announcement for his great-aunt who he was close with.

Charlotte and Charlie have run into each other on several accounts with one being both going to the funerals. They decide to go to each other's funeral as a support and friend.
This is really the beginning of their friendship and support of each other.

Charlie really starts to fall for Charlotte but she still needs to work through her broken engagement and the info she finds out. He is such a great guy, and she loves his company but has she lost him forever?

I’ll be your date, and you’ll be mine.

Who says a funeral can’t be romantic?
Okay, everyone. Including myself.
That doesn’t stop the rumor mill from turning when I show up with a beautiful redhead on my arm.

That redhead also just happens to be a stranger, relatively speaking. Charlotte Barrow and I have run into each other a few times—on the subway, at a bar, and now on our way to separate funerals. Instead of the prodigal son who let his parents down showing up alone, I traded favors and brought a date. The deal made sense at the time.

~~~
You be my date, and I’ll be yours.
Who knew bringing a date to your ex-fiancé’s funeral would cause such a stir?
Technically, I did.
I invited him anyway for moral support. It didn’t hurt that he was handsome.
The cold-hearted stares that greeted us didn’t matter. We found comfort in each other and formed a friendship from there. Charles Adams was nothing like my ex. The pressure wasn’t there to be anyone other than who I was. He also loved my cupcakes as much as I enjoyed his company.
I always dreamed of finding my soul mate, and then along came Charlie. My perfect match was right here all along. Did I realize it too late?
Holy smokes! This book was EVERYTHING!! Talk about all the feels. Their journey wasn't an easy one, and will take you on an emotional journey! There was a twist that I definitely didn't see coming! My words don't describe how amazing this book is! I highly recommend it!
Along Came Charlie is an amazing friends to more read. This is one of those reads you will not want to miss out on. I loved every moment of this one and could not put it down. This is the tale of two Charlies and their meet cute. Girl Charlie is trying to put on a brave front when she is hit with the death of her ex. Boy Charlie is trying to prove he can make it on his terms. I love their run ins and how they are just drawn together. They form this amazing friendship with this slow build to more. You feel for boy Charlie as he is ready for all the steps with girl Charlie. Girl Charlie is at a different place then boy Charlie. I love how she takes the time she needs to heal after everything. Charlie and Charlie will own your heart the entire read and not let go. I giggled, swooned and even get a little teary at times with this one. I could not get enough of the two Charlies and their story. You need to meet them today and fall hard for them today.
Along Came Charlie is a story heavy on the sweet when two people who make realistic mistakes develop into something more. I will say while I was confused about them having the same nickname of Charlie, I still had a smile on my face about it at the same time LOL! These two met at a time when they were both going through some things, and somehow, they ended up being able to support each other as friends to lovers. It is very much a slow burn, but I didn't find myself getting distracted since I found myself all in & needing to know how it all played out. Our hero, Charlie, fell first while our heroine named Charlie was a harder sell so she was the one who frustrated me with a mistake or two, but hero Charlie never wrote her off either, and she came to the conclusion that she was in the wrong so maybe just maybe they'll get that happily ever after both deserved, but you'll have to actually hit those one click buttons to find out as I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This book is about Charlie. Charlie A -he- and Charlie B- her- see each other on the metro and meet at the bar afterwards. They are in one of the most difficult period of their lives, but they are the hope the other needs, the compass, the support... Everything!
This is one of the most realistic and romantic book I read lately. The good, the bad, the insecurities, the fun, the normal, the sadness, the love, everything is there. And with the amazing talent of the author, it is shaped in the mold of the perfect book with the most romantic story.
I love all the books I read from SL Scott, and each one becomes my favorite. This one became my favorite book! I think it is the most romantic book I read this month.
Brilliant and heartwarming, with amazing characters and really funny, it is a book that made me laugh and swoon in the same time 💕 highly highly recommend it 💕
2 stars are for the super amazing cover art. Sooo beautiful and it drew me in.
0 stars for the book itself. So much inner talk from MMC about how he grew up privileged and he sounds like a douche. We get it. You come from money and girls fell at your feet. Whatever dude. Not sure he ever really struggled since he somehow manages to pay for a nice NY appartment even though his rich parents cut him off.
The killer for me?? He is super interested in his redhead from the subway (the FMC) but dates the friend since she is more forward and claimed him. So basically he wants one woman but leads on her friend then has the most BS inner thought that "fate must want me to date the brunette"
Yup, that's what every girl dreams of... a man who settles for whoever throws themselves at him harder since all girls are basically interchangeable.
After the way that her last relationship ended, Charlotte doesn’t want to repeat the mistakes of the past. When fate keeps bringing her and Charles together, they decide to become friends and that begins with him escorting her to ex-fiancé’s funeral.
Rather than follow the plans that his affluent family had for them Charles chose to forge his own path which is only met with disdain and displeasure so trading favors with Charlotte seems like the perfect solution.
The change in their relationship from friends to more was gradual as they have both been hurt by love in the past. The fun times they shared showed how perfect they were for each other even if Charlotte’s determination to protect herself caused some angst along the way.
Ms Scott brings back one of her first novels in this refreshed Along Came Charlie.
This is a sweet read that focuses on two people who meet at the most unlikely of situations and while attracted to each other they focus on being friends.
The story that follows shows the developing friendship while both characters struggle with the idea of wanting more. They both evolve and I found myself rooting for them to find their respective happy endings.
The secondary cast is relatively small, but they do help guide our pair along their journey.
It was entertaining to read this first effort by Ms Scott. Loyal readers can see her style in the book, but also see the changes in her story telling style when comparing this to more recent reads.
Another great one from SL Scott! A unique premise starts the bond between these two characters, with them being each other’s “date” to a funeral. Charlie A was swoony, a wealthy playboy working to forge his own path. Charlie B was trying to get over the hang ups caused by her past relationships. This lends to a great setup for him to fall first. I do love when this happens! He is so sweet to Charlie, trading it all for the chance to snuggle her on the couch. This book is a major slow burn, as Charlie B needs to learn to love herself before she can fully give herself to Charlie A. Their relationship is built on a truly strong friendship, so you know that their romantic relationship will be even better and be able to go the distance. The only thing I wished for in this book was more steam!
I've been reading S.L. Scott for years! I'm always excited whenever she has book coming out!⁣
Reading this book made me contemplate about fate and destiny... I mean, what are the odds you'll meet the love of your life and they have the same nickname as you? ⁣
This book is angsty and frustrating and also of kinds of swoony and funny!⁣
Charlotte drövë me nüts... I mean I understand where she's coming from but still she was exaspërätïng... and Charles... **sigh** dear Charles is just the perfect book boyfriend. ⁣
I enjoyed the book from beginning to end... although I have my questions about the ex... and I also would've wanted longer epilogue.⁣
You had me at fake romance! Throw in the idea that they are headed to a funeral together and this book just took an interesting turn.
Along Came Charlie was a slow burn romance that had me hooked right from the start. When Charlie B. meets Charlie A. she is not looking for romance and has her heart very guarded. However, Charlie A. is willing to open up his heart and let someone in. The two start off as friends supporting each other and slowly start to realize that they could be something more.
I enjoyed the writing, the storyline and loved the characters. I was rooting for the characters to finally get their happily ever after and didn't want to stop reading until I knew they had finally found it. A must read book for sure!
