Part of an adorable board book series with four titles and counting, this one serves as an engaging introduction to sloths. Using accessible words and short sentences as well as some repetition, the text describes the food preferences, habits, and pastimes of this most intriguing creature. These lines and stock photographs could serve as a conversation starter between parent or caregiver and child as they discuss the similarities and differences between sloths and humans. Of course, since the book is intended for a young audience, it simply has to end with a hug or two, one for a baby sloth and one for a human child. Little ones will want to return to this one again and again, drawn in by the colorful photographs.

First sentence: Baby sloths live with their mamas in the rain forest. Hello, baby!

Premise/plot: This board book features plenty of photographs of baby sloths (and their mamas). Each spread contains a simple fact. (For example, "baby sloths eat leaves.")

My thoughts: Board books are for very young "readers." It's all about those early experiences of hearing a book being read and being loved. This one features simple, basic facts about sloths. Most importantly, in my opinion, it features engaging photographs. Readers of all ages can enjoy looking at these adorable sloths.

Great pictures, fun things that kids can relate to and even a picture at the end of real people.
