"You are what your deep, driving, desire is. As your deep, driving desire is, so is your will. As your will is, so is your deed. As your deed is, so is your destiny."

3.5 stars.

Grant Madison is a yoga teacher. He is very controlled and avoids emotional outbursts. But my oh my, he does have a temper - if the need arises! He practices tantric sex. Arianna Devlin is quite the opposite. She is highly energetic, passionate, very ambitious and stressed. There's this saying "Opposites attract." Grant and Arianna have the hots for each other and then some! Whoa there...

SLIGHT SPOILER

These lines explain a lot. How Grant 'works':

From the moment they met, Grant controlled both the classroom and the bedroom. She felt as if he let her see a hidden part of him in their intimacy, but now she realized he’d never let himself lose control. He rarely came inside of her. He never exploded in orgasm without planning her pleasure first. He used tantra to stay in power. With great sex and love, came great vulnerability. By controlling her orgasms and holding back his own, he remained safe.

In his mind, he couldn’t give her the option of loving him or making the choice. By allowing her to choose him, he set himself up for failure, failure in both the relationship and in his school. [...] That way, he remained safely distant and made himself feel better by pretending he let her go for her own good, because he loved her secretly, silently. It wasn’t a sacrifice at all.

END OF SPOILER

Arianna needs to relieve some of her stress and that's when she finds herself seeking Grant who introduces her to an old yoga technique. Thanks to the yoga lessons (and Grant, of course), she feels more relaxed, balanced, and happier than before. One thing leads to another...and Arianna tells Grant that she wants him in her bed. I've got to hand it to her: this woman is straightforward and she doesn't beat around the bush! Grant has been hurt by his ex-wife and as a rule, he doesn't want to get 'involved' with a student. Yeah, Grant, the spirit is willing...but the flesh is oh so weak!

They attend a yoga workshop together and all bets are off. Grant and Arianna are sharing a night of great sex but will they share a life as well? When deeper emotions get involved, both of them have to decide what they want and what is more important in life: love or business success.

I really liked the heroine, Arianna! She's a real woman. She loves sex and she likes to eat and drink and she is not model-thin. To put it simply: she indulges in all the comforts life has to offer - without any regrets. Arianna is a woman according to my taste.

What did not work for me:

Yoga and tantra/sex - a first for me! Ehm, of course THAT works for me just fine!

This ever-present lust syndrome bothered me a bit. And Grant was incredibly 'insta-lusty' – one glimpse and he got a hard-on. I know this is a good thing. It’s hot. However, after the first lust and passion and this please-just-tear-my-clothes-off-and-make-me-come phase, there should be a transition to more sensuality and tenderness. Passion, sensuality AND tenderness. Now, THAT would be just perfect!

I had my 'aha moment' when I was reading this:

[...] Tantra is about harnessing your sexual energy, about connecting so deeply with your partner you become one. It’s about giving pleasure to the extreme in a slow, steady pace. [...]

This is the proof I needed – I was practicing tantra without knowing it. Duh! Obviously if you find the right guy then it shouldn’t be a problem. Initially, I thought I was missing something here. I couldn’t 'see' that for the life of me! I expect tantra to be something about a deeper meaning/connection, something SPIRITUAL. I didn’t really feel that when I was reading this short story. I wanted more depth to the story and the frequent sex scenes were ok but - again - there wasn't enough depth. And I think less is more. We know that tantra is about 'giving pleasure to the extreme in a slow, steady pace' but their erotic encounters ended rather fast. Indeed too fast for my liking!

The Tantric Principle is a good read with a lot of rather hot sex scenes, a nice story and likeable characters as well. Except for my few 'issues' I did enjoy this novella. Jill, again, thank you for this rec!

The Tantric Principle by Jennifer Probst is a story that had me grabbing for my non-existent oxygen mask right from the start. Grant Madison, the deeply controlled yoga instructor who indulges in tantric sex pairs up with the energetic and highly ambitious Arianna Devlin, his exact opposite in every way which lends this story that explosive quality that I absolutely loved.

26 year old Arianna finds herself burning out as fast as a candle placed in the midst of a stormy sea and that is when she finds herself seeking Grant who introduces her to an old yoga technique that has her more relaxed, energized and happier than before. The downside of every session is the escalation of her need to be possessed by her instructor whose very touch makes her insides melt with his intensity and electrifying presence.

Grant has been burned before and has a rule about never crossing the line with a student but Arianna tempts him beyond anything he has ever felt. But once these two attend a yoga workshop together, all bets are off as Grant takes control of the situation and gives Arianna the best sex of her life which plays havoc with her emotions in a way that has never happened before. Suddenly their one night of passion is no longer enough and as deeper emotions get involved, Arianna readies herself to take the plunge with a man who is afraid to let go of his hard earned control in bed and out of it.

The Tantric Principle is a sizzling piece of work that any fan of romance that LOVES a high dose of sensuality in their novels ought to read. Though a short novel, the book doesn't leave the reader hanging and delivers on all counts with a hero whose sinful sexiness alone is enough to make a woman surrender her everything.

Highly recommended.

Memorable Quotes

“Were you avoiding me?” he asked.
He closed the gap. Her back hit the wall. Arianna tilted her chin up and met his gaze head on. “A little.”
The slow, masculine grin that transformed his carved features took her breath. “Good, at least you’re still telling me the truth. Now kiss me properly.” He didn’t wait for her response, just took her in his arms and dived right in. His mouth urged her lips open with a sensual persuasion, then slipped his tongue in the wet depths of her mouth to play. Arianna drank in the heady taste of male hunger and coffee. Her nails dug into his shoulders in punishment and a need she couldn’t seem to slake.
He lifted his mouth from hers and cupped her face in his hands. “Hi, babe.”
Her heart melted.

Hard-working advertising professional, Arianna, has been taking Yoga classes to help deal with her busy, career oriented and stress-filled lifestyle. Hoping to bring balance to her mental state, she finds herself increasingly challenged by the hands-on approach of her sexy, attentive male teacher. Her hungry response to his carved, lean body is a distraction from the very peace she is there to achieve.

Grant Madison is having some personal trials of his own when it comes to Arianna. Despite the strict rule he has about not getting involved with his students, Grant finds his attraction for the curvy, delicious Arianna too much to deny. It takes a woman who knows what she wants to interest this intense, focused man. Arianna fits that description perfectly. She is a confident, down-to-earth, committed business woman who is not interested in complicating her life. But one thing is for sure: she wants Grant Madison, even if the only reasonable solution is a casual affair. Unable to stop her ongoing fantasies, Arianna takes the direct approach. She wastes no time in letting the luscious, masculine yogi know that she desires him. However, sticking to his convictions, Grant gently turns her down.

Karma. There is an important teaching conference in Boston for the weekend and Grant, needing an assistant, finds that the only student in his classes who qualifies is Arianna. Of course, she accepts. But when Arianna directly challenges Grant's rule by asking him why he doesn't want to sleep with her, it's more than the hot-blooded, sensual man can take. It turns out that this dominant, controlled man has a lot more to teach Arianna than her Yoga poses. The teacher in class becomes the master in the bedroom. The result is a hot affair beyond belief and a revealed hunger between them that goes far beyond what either had ever planned. They find that their feelings have turned from overwhelming desire into love. But, it turns out that fate has a challenge of her own when the promotion that Arianna has been working for her whole career is finally won. The problem is, she will have to move to Chicago.

The author has a way of making you believe and care for her characters. She is gifted in her ability to bring life to the page, cleverly painting the moods, as well as the people and scenes with fluent colors. An example of this comes to mind. This is my favorite quote in the story. Arianna, who is reeling with joy over her unexpected and newfound love with Grant, has just realized the painful decision that she'll have to make about her career, turning her celebration to dust: “The truth struck hard and deep while she watched the bubbles lie flat in her glass.”

This raging hot story is guaranteed to steam the reader up with it's exquisitely told graphic sex scenes. The author is competent and a true artist with words. I very much enjoyed this story and hope to read much more of Jennifer Probst's work.

The Tantric Principle by Jennifer Probst is a contemporary romance about two soul mates finding each other. Grant Madison is a Yoga instructor who owns his own yoga school in New York. From experience, he has learned to not mix business with pleasure. Arianna Devlin, an advertising executive, is one of Grant's students and has had a crush on Grant for months.

On a business trip, Arianna and Grant fall into bed together after fighting their attraction to each other for months. As their secret affair progresses, they realize the significance each one holds in their respective lives; however, they will not admit this to one another. Ultimately a sacrifice must be made in order for the importance of their feelings to be truly known to one another.

Jennifer Probst offers a touching romance with expressive love scenes in this book. Her modern romance impacts the reader with the well-crafted development of Grant and Arianna's relationship.

Happy Reading from Bona Fide Reflections!!

3.5 Stars This was a novella that should have been a novel. The emotions were too clipped as were the H/h interactions. But this is my beef with most novellas. It was still pretty good.

Of you enjoy reading about men and women being driven to unimaginable levels of pleasure, until they think they’ll pass out of die from it, and then Jennifer Probst’s The Tantric Principle is the book for you. Arianna is a hard driven advertising executive who has sought out yoga as a way to keep some balance in her life and prevent burnout. Grant Madison is the yoga instructor who drives up her lust even while helping her find a place of peace from her high powered world. When they give into their desires for more another, Arianna discovers that Grant practices tantra, the art of denying one’s own sexual release to enhance your partner’s.

On the technical level, the book is sound. Jennifer uses a robust variety of words and puts them together into a story that reads as naturally as one would speak. Nothing in the writing itself will be getting in the way of enjoying the story itself. The story is also good. Lovers of the romance genre will find all the elements they expect, put together in a, for me, fresh way that doesn’t seem like a tired reworking of the same old story.

Perhaps the best part of the story is the depth in Ms. Probst writing. Clumsy writers add sex scenes without regard to the story. Good writers add them seamlessly as part of the story. Jennifer Probst goes beyond that, and the sex scenes are a reflection of the story itself. This romance is about control and who will have it; and that’s what the sex between Arianna and Grant is as well. You can, if you’re inclined, see the love story’s parallel in the sexual encounters. Very well done.
The sex scenes themselves are good. The physical descriptions and the emotional backdrop are seamlessly woven to give the reader a complete sensual experience. Those who enjoy reading about mild bondage, screaming orgasms and sexual surrender will find their cup runeth over.

If I have any complaint about this story, it’s not the book itself, but the blurb. A blurb should not tell ninety percent of the story; it should tease us to read the story. My enjoyment was lessened a bit because I already knew just what was going to happen (for the most part). Jennifer, preserve the mystery, please. I give The Tantric Principle 4 divas and a flame heat rating.

The Tantric Principle by Jennifer Probst
* I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Arianna is an advertising executive that is feeling the effects of the daily stress of her job. She is a smart, successful woman used to being in charge of all aspects of her life and doesn’t like the disconnect she is feeling. She decides to give yoga a chance; little did she realize it would change every aspect of her life.

Grant has built his yoga school from the ground up after having to start fresh. He made the mistake of marrying one of his students and lost everything, including his heart. He now has one rule, “don’t date students”, that is until Arianna walks through his door.

I love these two characters. Arianna is such a strong female lead that isn’t afraid to ask for what she wants. She has worked hard to get to where she is and recognizes the need for something different in her life. I love that she isn’t afraid to be herself around Grant. The one place she doesn’t mind Grant taking control is the bedroom, where he is teaching her the art of Tantric.

Grant seems like such a calm character when you first meet him, always in control of himself and all situations. As the story progresses you realize that he is a complex character that is scared of letting go. Since his divorce he has relied on meditation, yoga and tantric to remain in total control. I loved the scene in his apartment when he finally let go.

Their relationship started out as a casual affair but deepened over time. She loved him enough to stay and he loved her enough not to ask her to. They were faced with a difficult decision and had to decide if their relationship was worth saving. The decision Grant made at the end made me very happy, I wanted to see them work things out.

Overall I really liked this story. It was more than a love story; it was a story about finding yourself. I give The Tantric Principle 4 Flaming Hearts.

The Tantric Principle by Jennifer Probst is really something to wow for. Reading this book makes me blush like a school girl. While this book is an erotica, the plot, the storyline as well as the emotional development are all touching and moving. I like how the characters get to explore each other’s fears as well as their sexual fantasies.

One thing that i learn from The Tantric Principal is that sometimes, one got to persevere when it comes to getting men to commit, and one way to get a guy to commit to you is to let have a taste of how it’s like loosing you.

Well done Jennifer Probst. This is a very inspiring read, despite of the erotic nature of it.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I thought they could improvise the cover.

I receive an ARC of this book from Red Sage Publishing via Netgalley. I was not compensated in any ways for writing this review.

Arianna needs to relax and de-stress from her busy high-powered Ad exec job. Grant learned a valuable lesson the last time he got involved with a student. Of course if each one stuck to their principles we wouldn't have a book to read! So one weekend they let temptation have the better of them and go for it. Of course the sex scenes are fabulous, but not overly done. The plot (yes there is actually a plot) is good and will keep your interest.

This was not some wham-bam-thank-you Ma'am type of short sex-manual book. A lot of thought and style went into this story. Both characters are well fleshed out which surprised me since you don't normally find that in this genre from most authors.

The Tantric Principle will keep you interested and turning the pages to see if they can both get what they want and need in the end. And who knows, it may make you curious enough to try Tantric Sex.

Take one smokin' hot yoga instructor, add one uptight lady exec type, mix in a healthy dose of off the charts sex and you have The Tantric Principle. Ms. Probst has done a fantastic job creating two believable characters. No ubber-rich Prince in hiding, just real people with real people jobs and real people problems. Now, if we real people could have the kind of sex her characters do, the world would be a better place! Thanks Ms. Probst for an entertaining read. It's nice to have characters I can relate to, and see them find the happiness they deserve without the help of psychic powers or fangs. This one is a keeper.

I really loved this book? Why? Because I really 'got' the characters. Maybe its because, to a certain extent, I lived a very similar life to the heroine. But, having said that, it is also because the writing is fantastic and the author has the rare quality wherein she can write a book that makes you feel like you know the characters, you could be friends with them, and you care about what happens to them. I didn't see the end coming, I foresaw a very different ending, and I was hugely happy with what happened. Beware: Hot Tantric Sex Contained Within Its Pages.

I really enjoyed this short story, it was about fear, ethics and control and how you can hide behind them. The characters where likeable but at the end I did want to slap Grant but that is the mark of good writing. it was also nice that both of the characters where strong people and knew what they want and not afraid to go and get it. This was a refreshing little story that I would happily recommend to friends.

Hot & steamy definitely describe this book to a degree but not completely, I really don’t think there’s a complete definition for it. This book had heat, steam, sass, control & complete sensual romance. The battle of the heart runs strong through this book as Ariel & Grant both try desperately to keep their feelings under control in their relationship. As always happens though, they fall hard & things get in the way to send them in different directions. My only complaint with this book is sadly it’s done. Highly recommend. Thank you to author Jennifer Probst for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.

As someone who really enjoys yoga, as soon as I saw this book, I knew I had to read it. I’ve read a few romance and erotic romance novels involving yoga and I always enjoy them, I’m glad to have another one to add to my list. The Tantric Principle is about a master yoga instructor and one of his students and yes, you’d be right in assuming that this is a big no-no, but it is fiction so just go with it and enjoy this well written story about two very likeable people.

Grant Madison is the owner and master instructor at his yoga studio. He believes in the practice, lives it day in and day out and knows he makes his student’s lives better. He’s in control; he refuses not to be after what happened with his ex-wife. But, one of his student’s is threatening his control and soon he finds himself in a position even he’s not familiar with.

Arianna Devlin is a 26 year old successful career woman, but the stress of her job and her life are killing her. She enrolls in a yoga class to gain some balance, what she doesn’t plan is to have lustful thoughts of her instructor.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the author did a fantastic job of developing these characters, letting us know what drives them and the reasons behind the decisions they make. They are two very interesting and down to earth characters. They lead very different lives but somehow together they compliment each other and work. The dialogue was interesting and engaging, I often found myself shaking my head in agreement as they chatted and wanting to join in their conversation. The sex scenes were steamy and beautifully written. When Arianna has a career decision to make, I like that she put herself first even though it was hard to do. I admire Grant for being brave and supporting her decision.

The Tantric Principle is a well written erotic love story that is not to be missed. Jennifer has such a way with words, they just flow and wrap around you immersing you in the story. This was one story I didn’t want to end, I kept hoping another chapter was going to magically appear so I could keep on reading. That being said, this book has a fantastic ending one that dreams are made of and will have you jumping up, pumping your fists in the air and screaming, “Yes!”

Grant believes in the Tantric Principle- holding off on pleasure in order to reach maximum control. Works great in his business life, in which he owns and operates a successful Yoga studio, but it doesn't work so well in his love life. Enter Arianna, a Yoga student extraordinaire. Not only does she understand his principles, she is a quick and eager learner. When their student/ teacher life becomes a romantic one, Grant continues to practice Tantra, in order to remain control. For Grant has been married and burned once before and will not allow that to happen again, even if it means continually denying his true feelings for Arianna, and risk losing her.
This book was sad in that Grant was so into sticking to his principles in order to keep from getting hurt again that he missed what was right in front of him until it was too late, and he got hurt again. The characters were very well fleshed out, but the romance scenes were a little cold- but maybe that was because Grant kept denying himself the chance to let go and enjoy what Arianna was offering him.

In this erotic novella we are treated to the story of Grant and Arianna. Arianna is an advertising executive who take a Yoga class to relieve stress and find some calm in her life. Her Yoga instructor Grant is a carefully controlled man who is attracted to Arianna despite his strict policy to not get involved with his students. A weekend away on business leads them to an intense affair which becomes so much more.

I loved this story! Despite it's short length, the setting and background to the characters is well developed. Arianna's character was very appealing to me - feisty, strong willed, a woman who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it. Grant's character is equally attractive, portrayed as a man who never loses control - until Arianna comes along and breaks his façade. The love scenes between them are steamy and well written and by alternating the points of view the underlying thoughts and emotions of Arianna and Grant make the story real and engaging. The clashing of 2 such strong willed characters makes for a dynamic love story. 5 fabulous stars!

This was a fast read and I really enjoyed it. I loved the conflict and how it was all resolved. It was one of those painful breakups where they both love each other, but one is not ready to admit it. Then when they do, it's too late. I love that. I loved that it wasn't just an easy "I love you" "I love you" HEA! Done.

One thing I thought was a bit confusing was that I didn't realize much time has passed. It was hardly touched on at all. It sort of read like they were together for about 2 weeks, because it just flowed from one day to the next, without saying a few weeks passed. It says they were together for months later in the book and I was dumbfounded. I had no idea. I so I wish there would have been more clarification on the passage of time. But other than that, it was a fun short story, exactly what I was looking for after reading an emotionally draining book.

If you are looking for a Hot and Steamy love story, than look no further. Jennifer does not disappoint with her characters of Grant and Arianna.
Arianna is a strong willed, determined advertising exec. that is about to get her world rocked by her overly sexy, extremely lovable and overwhelmingly sensual Yoga Instructor.

YUMMY!!!
I really enjoyed this book because it is reality. You have so many of these millionaire/billionaire stories that ignite the senses of the unobtainable, this book however takes two hard working individuals and tells their story. Don't get me wrong, I love the millionaire/billionaire books too. But this book touched something deep down... want and desire and made me believe that anything is possible and that true love can lay in all the unexpected places, like yoga class.

P.S. Can I have a sequel? PLEASE?!?!

Another Wonderfully Written Gem

This story definitely caught my interest right away due to the unique plot and having read other books by Ms. Probst, I knew it would not disappoint. I was VERY happily surprised to find that this wasn't just a sexy little contemporary. It also had really interesting lovable lead characters, a very believable and well thought out plot and most of all, it had plenty of heart. The ending was great as well, but I believe that this story could have been made into a full sized novel, had she chosen to do so. I Really wish she had, only because I see so much potential in these characters!
I Very Highly Recommend this to anyone looking for a short, but very enjoyable and satisfying love story. One that brings the heat and warms the heart. Definitely a winner!

I bought this one from Books on Board.

Really good. Loved the yoga setting. The fact that her career was important and so was his. There was no easy solution, he had baggage. The ending was very sweet. The sex was smoking hot. Minor quibble - could the heroine have achieved such a high level in the advertising industry at 26? Not my industry, but I am skeptical.

I liked it!

It's been a while since I read a book about independent and strong-willed heroine. It's quite refreshing. Sure there were few push and pulls between both characters that made me did a bit of skimming, but I still enjoyed it.

I was expecting more angsty and drama though. But overall I liked it a lot.

Good one! :)
