My rating is based on my 3-year old daughter’s interest in this book. She really enjoys many of these stories! Her favourite is the New Baby. The stories are written for young children, and are quite understandable for them.

This book is excellent. More than that, it is a Combined Volume with nine First Experiences books. Each book has two separate versions which may be read independently or as a longer story. The version at the top of the page is a simple sentence version of the book and is approximately a first grade reading level. The version at the bottom of the page is a more complicated and detailed version of the book and is approximately a second or third grade reading level. A great way to read this book to a baby or toddler is to read only the top line. As the child gets older, read the bottom line as well. When the child starts to read, have them read the top line and you the bottom line. This will give them a great sense of accomplishment which is so important for success in reading. This is a book that can grow with your child. Don't forget to look for the duck on each page. Purchase this book at my Independent Consultant Website: www.ubah.com/s2995

Väga armsate ja last paeluvate piltidega praktilise sisuga eluline raamat.

I have no idea where this came from or how it got here. It looks like a home remedy book my Grandmother had laying around.
There are a bunch of short stories included, 'going to the dentist' and 'the new baby' being only two of them. They're very short and very simple, great for young toddlers. The stories mentioned here are all normal "everyday" things any child may need to deal with/experience. Getting a shot is one of them I think, going to a party is another.
I like the idea but the cover really irks me. Everytime I look at it I just expect silly home remedies to pop out or something. I suppose I know why this cover was chosen, it does show a multitude of icons meant to portray the stories in the book. It could have just been done better I think.
I'm giving this 3 stars instead of 2 though because I know if we had read this when Julia was maybe 2 or 2 and 1/2. it would have been better.
Older toddlers will probably be a bit bored with this as they've probably experienced all of the things featured here. By the time they're considered an older toddler they're probably also considered a professional at getting shots.

What a great little book with pictures describing different first experiences for a family, such as moving, having a baby, getting a pet, or going to the dentist!
