New to cooking? Looking for simple, tasty, and healthy recipes with easy-to-find ingredients that won't clean out your bank account? This is the book to help you.

I have enjoyed the Chic Simple books that I've checked out from my library. They reflect timeless, classic living - how to dress and how to cook/eat. I stumbled across them when another Goodreads reviewer referenced Chic Simple when reviewing another book. I'm sure she had no idea that her reference would open up a wonderful world to another reader.

Published in 1995, this book is about to turn 30 years old, and it is still a great book.

It's a great introduction to cooking for those who are new to cooking or about to be living on their own. This features basic but tasty recipes along with all kinds of useful information. It includes quotes about gustatory delights.

Stylewise, it is lovely. However, that same style makes it difficult to read at times with its stylized font and light typeface on light colors. I would love to see this book reprinted but with a much less fussy layout.

As a Gen-Xer, this takes me back to a time when life seemed less complicated and when we had more time to socialize and cook with and for our friends.
