Well how to begin? I've heard AMAZING things about this middle grade trilogy but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I wasn't expecting a love triangle and it was one of the weirdest I've ever read where both male characters knew about each other but didn't care as long as they were with HER. SERIOUSLY? It was too focus in the romance and I was sold this would be a fantasy world I'd love. Though the world building wasn't THAT bad I couldn't stand the love triangle!!!

A ver, por dónde empiezo?? H

A great book for a B1-B2 Spanish learner.

I first read this book in middle school but the 3rd volume never got translated to my native language and at that time I couldn't read in any other language. Now I speak Spanish, and I was excited to read a book in that language.
So I started it with a lot of enthusiasm and well, while the world building is kind of interesting... what is it with the big murderer guy being attracted to the little girl?? Big murderer guy who is also a kid but older enough than her so it's already creepy. But it's e

Oh wow, what a gem of a book it is. I thank the Bookstagram community for discovering this one. How is it possible that it hasn't been translated into English yet?

It's so nice to read an Europe-centric book for a change. Everything about the story is so magical - the characters, the plot, the plot twists, the way the love triangle is handled... Just, ah. If you happened to speak one of the languages that these books has

My first attempt at reading a Spanish book series. Learning Spanish has opened my door to new stories and adventures I’d never heard of before. And this first one, La Resistencia by Laura Gallego García, was a real treat. A mix of Star Wars and Star Trek, the first book in the Memorias de Idhún series was full of jaw dropping surprises. Literally a twist at the end of every chapter. This young adult book follows three troubled teenagers as they join the Resistance to find the lost dragon and uni ...more

Recommends it for: Teenagers
Good book, innovative and interesting.
However, it is way too predictable. You know what is going to happen and the main characters dont. I am not that smart, and the characters are not that stupid. It makes half book a bit boring.
This said, the book as a whole is quite absorbing and is easy to read (especially because you get drawn into the story).
I will read the second part for two reasons: i want to follow the story and i want to see if the book becomes less predictable.
My 10 year old self adored this book and my 20 year old self is not going to be the one to give it less than 5 stars. Reading it after so many years has made me realise that it is definitely not as amazing as I remembered, but it has also made me see the characters from a different perspective and it has brought back a whole bunch of memories. This was once my favourite book, and I can firmly say that Idhún will forever be special for me.

Mi yo de 10 años adoraba este libro y mi yo de 20 años no
The world created for this book its amazing but there are things that feel forced. But overall it has an amazing story and an amazing world that draws you in, but in some points get repetitive and a bit boring.

I love the books written by Laura Gallego García but I prefer other works from her. Nevertheless, I think its a good read and if you like YA fantasy this book is for you.

I give this book 3.5 Stars.

I read this when I was 9 years-old (or 8, I don't really remember), I loved it then. Now, it's a bit icky. The writing style is bit juvenile for me and the characters are extremely young, I don't know what Laura Gallego Garcia was thinking. There's a time skip and even then the female main character is just 15 and her two love interests are 16. I wish they would be around 19-20, because it wouldn't be as creepy as it seems. Like I know 15 years-old and 17 years-old and they are worlds apart. I g ...more

This is a perfectly decent YA fantasy novel. The problem is: It’s exactly that and no more. Everything about this feels like it’s been done before. In addition, the writing style feels very distant, not least because a lot of the worldbuilding is delivered through exposition dialogues/monologues. Again: Not a bad book. Just not an exceptional one.

This book is fantastic if you really like fantasy. It talks about Idhún a magical world and Victoria one of our principal character. She has lots of adventures with Jack and Kirtash.
I strongly recommend it😊

I read this book when I was younger in highschool. The plot caught me from the very first beginning because it was very interesting. The fantasy, the romance and the intrigue of knowing what would happen next was amazing.

These books meant the world to me when I read them, but now I am just afraid to pick them up because... well I don't think that needs explaining.

Memorias de Idhun takes you on a journey into a wonderful fantasy world. I'm in love with the world and I remember painting some of the characters.

This book hooks you from the first page when Jack came home from school and he found his parents dead on the floor. He had had the chance to see the assassin. As they made eye contact, Jack thought he was going to die, but then, someone took him to a safe place and saved his life. That place is Limbhad, a shielded territory from evil people who killed wizards that had escaped from Idhun to survive from Ashran, the leader, and the sheks (huge and deadly, flying snakes). In Limbhad there’s a girl, ...more

I liked the beginning of the trilogy and I will probably finish it only to see how it ends. It is a young adult fantasy book so I wish I had found it when I was a teenager, I feel I would be so much more involved in it than now.
In this story, the protagonist, Jack, is a child leading normal, ordinary life until one day he returns home and discovers that his parents were murdered at the hands of two people who even try to kill him too, but he is rescued, and from that moment his life is not the

I read this book almost ten years ago. Wow, time goes by so quickly! I was around 13 when it came into my hands. I was at school, it was Friday and the Spanish lesson every Friday was reading. I had forgotten a book, and I was too lazy to go to the library. So I asked my best friend, who was in another class, wether she had a book I could borrow. So she gave me Memorias de Idhun. I was reluctant, as I wasn't much of a reader at that time, and it kind of is a big book. Which now that I think abou ...more

I read this when I was about 14, or something, and I recall liking it. Not as much as my all times favorite saga (Harry Potter), but it was okay to read in between Harry Potter's books release.

I remember loving Jack with all my heart, and now, ten years later, I still love him. At least, with him being all immature and childish I sense he's a more realistic character than miss annoying Victoria (who I happen to think is a self-insert of the author, much as Stephenie Meyer did in Twilight series

Actual rating 3.5

I remember loving this a few years ago -- the excitement of a fantasy world that's just different enough from other fantasy worlds to be intriguing, while keeping the elements of fantasy that I love (DRAGONS, unicorns, magic, various humanoid species, prophecies).

This book (series) also has one of the few love triangles that don't bother me, although upon rereading this, I realized how one of the boys is actually not that romantic and really just an asshole. I know he improves

This was a book I gave a good friend for her birthday, and read it shortly after she read it.
Both, we fell in love with this series, liking the characters as well as the settings, and especially the plot. So if you are looking for tough heros and a tough heroine: Get this book and read it!

It became soon one of our favourites ever read, especially with the fresh ideas written down in a nice language.
Also, the german cover is amazing.

It gets only 4 stars, because it was a nice first one in the ser
