In a little bit longer form, I'm going to give you five great reasons to fall utterly in love with these books!

1) Okay, just to get it out in the open, Joy is a dear friend of mine! So I admit I am totally biased when it come to her story. But I fell in love with DREAMING ANASTASIA long before Joy and I were frie I was so excited to get an early copy of this third book in the ANASTASIA series by Joy Preble.

I LOVE THESE BOOKS!

In a little bit longer form, I'm going to give you five great reasons to fall utterly in love with these books!

1) Okay, just to get it out in the open, Joy is a dear friend of mine! So I admit I am totally biased when it come to her story. But I fell in love with DREAMING ANASTASIA long before Joy and I were friends. I admit I was somewhat of a fangirl when I first met her. I bought the book at our Austin SCBWI conference where she was signing, and nervously introduced myself :)

2) Yes, I just have to mention ANASTASIA. Has there been any mystery since the unexpected death of King Tut that has stirred up so many conspiracy stories? Right, so Joy took it upon herself to write what she think happened. I love the opportunity to look into someone else's mind and see what they came up with. And it is awesome :)

3) I have a complete soft spot in my heart for immortal characters. But just to be fair, not all immortal characters quite do it for me. Not the case with Ethan. He's lived a long time and yet he has such a great edge of innocence. He does not know everything. He is learning anew. He can be fooled. Tricked. Fall in love. And yet he is beyond cool. If I were the swooning type, Ethan would be totally swoon-worthy, and of the three ANASTASIA books, I'm pretty sure ANASTASIA FOREVER shows this the best.

4) This is book 3, and sure, you could pick it up and totally enjoy the series. But you have two months until it comes out. Take this opportunity and read DREAMING ANASTASIA and HAUNTED now, such that in August, when ANASTASIA FOREVER comes out, you will be first in line at the book store.

5) There are just certain books I view as guilty pleasures. I read them for pure enjoyment. I don't read to critique or compare or anything having to do with my own writing. I read them because I love the characters, the stories, and the worlds, and the ANASTASIA books are one hundred percent in this category for me.

In short, the ANASTASIA books are the perfect summer reading! They are light yet serious, funny yet suspenseful, romantic yet intense. Highly recommended for fans of paranormal fiction, sixth grade and up.

I absolutely loved Dreaming Anastasia series, and Anastasia Forever - the third and final instalment - in particular. If you're into folklore, myths, legends, spooky bedtime stories about witches and fantastic creatures that are out there to get you.. well, this is the series for you! I absolutely loved Dreaming Anastasia series, and Anastasia Forever - the third and final instalment - in particular. As much as I would love to discuss the plot, I can't. This is the third and final novel, and therefore anything I would say would be a spoiler for those of you who haven't yet read it. But let me just tell you that this was one of the best, most exciting and satisfying final books I've had the pleasure of reading. Even more fast-paced and entertaining than the previous two books, even more fun and charming (with all the awesome supporting characters and their often-hilarious interactions), even more heartbreaking and mesmerizing. When I finished reading it, I immediately felt the need to sit down and re-read the entire series. It was that good.

It's a story of three people whose lives are intertwined with each other in the most bizarre, intriguing way. Anne - a sixteen year old girl from Chicago - is connected through bloodline to some tragic and mysterious events from the past. When one day Anne accidentally collides with a handsome blue-eyed boy named Ethan, her whole world gets flipped inside out in a blink of an eye. Ethan tells Anne that Anastasia Romanov - the girl Anne has been dreaming about every night - is not dead. She's been captured and held captive by the Russian witch Baba Yaga. And the only person who can help free Anastasia is Anne. With that starts an adventure that is just as exciting as it is dangerous, and just as magical as it is romantic. An adventure that now - sadly - comes to an end in this extraordinary final book! Special powers, time travel, bizarre creatures Anne never thought existed outside of fairy tale books - our heroine will have to face all that and more.. Is she strong enough to help Anastasia?

This series was - and I'm not exaggerating - totally mind blowing. I love mythology and folklore, and Russian folklore in particular has so much to offer! It's so rich in beautiful (often vividly depicted, creepy) tales and spooky stories. And Joy Preble did a magnificent job researching all that and then incorporating all the most fascinating information into the story. At times I was oooh-ing and aaah-ing, other times I'd get goosebumps, but I never felt bored or uninterested in the events that were unravelling before my eyes. The story line moved swiftly and was full of heart-pounding events. There were many jaw-dropping twists and turns, and in the end I was left breathless, but with a huge smile on my face, satisfied and content.

All the characters in this series are wonderful. I found myself connecting with Anne and Anastasia in more than one way, and I couldn't help but to fall under Ethan's charm. They're all complex, likeable, realistic and strong. I especially loved the fact that our female lead was a strong, powerful character, who - even though she sometimes did make mistakes - was ready to face whatever life would throw her way, always finding a way to overcome all the obstacles. She was a fighter and I admired her. Not to mention that she was just so very easy to love - her personality was easy-going, likable, cheerful, and positive.

All the side-kicks were great, too, especially Tess and Ben. For supporting characters I found them exceptionally fleshed out and their presence added a lot of flavour to the story. Joy Preble built an incredible world, filled with historical events (the Romanov and their tragic story!), mythical creatures, goosebumpy stories and characters you genuinely care about. On top of all that, her smoothly flowing, captivating prose was like a breath of fresh air! I was amazed how much I ended up loving this series, and am so very sad to see it come to an end.

At the same time, though, I'm so excited to see what else this incredibly talented author has in store for us!

I did like Anastasia forever, but I have to admit that I got bored after a while. Maybe it's because I read the entire series in one week, but it became too much. Too much magic, too much history, too much fairy-tales. Simply too much stories in stories

I still liked the writing style and a lot of the characters, but I really had to push myself to continue reading this book.

I really think the first book in this series, Dreaming Anastasia, would be better as a standalone novel. ...more

A rich Russian lore with a light yet intense romance, and a plot line that has moments of humor, suspense, mystery, and shocking discoveries, Joy Preble's Anastasia Forever wraps up Ethan and Anne's story perfectly. I've really enjoyed reading this series, and being that this is the last book in the series, I found it to be just as fabulous as the first one. Which isn't always the case for me when reading a series. I always find myself favoring one book over the rest, and in this case I've reall A rich Russian lore with a light yet intense romance, and a plot line that has moments of humor, suspense, mystery, and shocking discoveries, Joy Preble's Anastasia Forever wraps up Ethan and Anne's story perfectly. I've really enjoyed reading this series, and being that this is the last book in the series, I found it to be just as fabulous as the first one. Which isn't always the case for me when reading a series. I always find myself favoring one book over the rest, and in this case I've really enjoyed all three books the same. Maybe that has to do with the fact this is one series that's stayed true to it's voice over the entire series, and it's really shown in the way Joy connected all three books together. All three books really compliment each other well, and each one plays a crucial role in unraveling the mystery that Anne finds herself mixed up in.

With this book Joy reveals some surprising secrets, answered any remaining questions I had, and wraps up Anne and Ethan journey in a very fitting way. Not only do fans of this series get a closer look into the back ground of the mythology that plays a huge part in this series, we also see how the past, present and future are tied together, and how one character's selfish desires can alter them. I liked how Anne had to go back in time in order to get some of her answers, and how that past directly ties to Anne and Ethan's life now. This part of the series's mystery is uncovered in a way that's both well paced, and exciting. It made sense and was believable for me. I also enjoyed seeing how both the mythology and the characters are all tied together even more so than I first though. They really all come full circle in both their growth, and how the choices that have been made through out the three books have changed, and altered them.

There's a lot of specific things I felt Joy did a fabulous job at explaining through this book being told through Anne, Ethan and Voktor's points of views. It didn't slow the storyline or make it confusing on who was talking, but instead it kept the flow of the story line exciting, and it was incredibly easy to distinguish who was talking, even if each new chapter wasn't titled by that character's name. I give huge kudos to Joy for being able to write characters who all stood out like that. She surprisingly made it hard for me to dislike Baba Yaga. In-fact, I surprisingly admire her more than I have in the other two books, because I felt like I got to know her more in this one. I respect her for the fact she's stayed the same and honored her same ways, no matter how right or wrong they are, for centuries. She by far has been the most interesting character for me to get to know in this series.

Really there's a lot of things I can point out about her and the rest of the characters that I liked, but in doing so, I'd spoil some of this books plot line. I will say I love the role Anne's family and friends played in this book. Her grandmother totally surprised me in the end! What a great twist. This is a book that fans of Joy's series, as well as YA paranormal reads will enjoy reading, and one I'd recommend picking up. ...more

I was so excited to hear that there was going to be a 3rd book in this series. I didn't feel the story was quite done after the 2nd. This was a much better overall ending to the story!

Baby Yaga calls on Anne to make good on her promise she made in exchange for her powers. She needs to stop Vincent. In true Lord Voldemort form (I love the point that Vincent technically came first in time) he hides a piece of his soul to become immortal. The problem is not only were, but when did he do it. I loved how intricately woven the story was. It really was about stories in stories. Anne had to understand Vincent to find were he could possibly have hidden his soul. I love that she gets to travel back in time in this story. I think it helps her unravel all the pieces and truly accept who she is and what she needs to do. I love what we get to briefly meet Anastasia when she was alive and well.

I love how Ethan is having a hard time dealing with what has happened to him. But, yet it never stops him from doing everything he can to help Anne. Even if it comes to admitting that she doesn't need his help. I enjoy how Tess is willing accept whatever life throws at her just because she's Anne's best friends and she refuses to sit on the sidelines.

I think Baby Yaga herself is one of my favorite parts of the series. I tend to have a hard time with mythical characters written bigger than life (and she really is here). But, I just found her so damn interesting. I didn't think so of things she does in our world to be farfetched, but it goes along with the idea that we see what we want to see. Easier to believe freak storms, etc over the idea that a crazy witch swooped out of the sky.

This was an extremely satisfying end to a series that I enjoyed very much. I will be looking forward to Preble's next work!

Anastasia Forever by Joy Preble is the third book in the Dreaming Anastasia series. So much has happened since Dreaming Anastasia. Anne has so many decisions to make. It's almost as if all the creatures in the supernatural realm are out to get her. She has to deal with an old witch, a bitter mermaid, and a psychopathic relative who is out to destroy them. To figure out how to defeat him, Anne has to travel back in time to understand events that could hold the key to stopping Viktor for good.

I've been waiting for this book to come out since i finished Haunted. And it was just as good as Haunted and Dreaming Anastasia. I've always found the story of Anastasia Romanov interesting so when I discovered Dreaming Anastasia I was so excited, I fell in love with Anne, Ethan, and Tess as well as the story line. And I managed to read this in one day as I had Dreaming Anastasia and Haunted.

Well...this book was......interesting. Though I must say that I did not really care for this book. It was okay and being completely honest I cant say that I remember too much of the book. I read it a while ago, so it's really hard to give a good review.

I got a signed copy of this book at a library convention in Houston, but sadly at the time I had not read the 2 books before it.
Well, when I finally checked out the other 2 on my Nook from the internet library I fell in love. I love the story, I mean, come on! Hmmmm. This one was soo much darker than the other two and I was disappointed in the content and language. There was more than the previous two, which was frustrating. I understand that Russian folklore is not light and fluffy, but combine that with the language and sexual content (some would say there's not really, but I beg to differ), I felt I needed a shower after reading it.

Oh, Baba Yaga, you have a heart after all!! And John Lennon was right - love is all we need.

I love this series - Anne finally gets a break or two, Tess is still wonderful, fierce, amazing Tess! Ethan's eyes are still the perfect blue and he and Ben have found some common ground that is not within a fight ring - in other words, life is good!

It's been so long since is read the first two in the series so I was having a hard time remembering what happened and getting my imagination back into the world (which is pretty complicated). That being said, I don't really like Anne and Ethan very much anymore... Especially Anne. This book earned five stars on the ending alone!!! May I take a moment to be a squealing fangirl? EEEEEEEEH I LOVE THE COVER!!!! They found the PERFECT guy for Ethan, he fits the bill wonderfully. So this was a pretty crazy series, lots of different elements going on. Anastasia and the Romanovs, we've got some magic/witches, immortal beings as well as time-travelling and even some Russian mermaids! Just a big 'ol mixed bag of supernatural things! Storyline is pretty twisty-turny as the main character is always dealing with "stories within stories, secrets within secrets" and just trying to figure out what the heck is going on! I don't really know how I feel about this book. It definitely was needed to wrap up the events in the second book, but it was extremely slow at times. And then of course all the action was packed into the last 50 something pages. The Basics
Another book I read before Goodreads. This was better than book one, but the whole Etanovich thing is back and I am cringing in the thought of it. Anastasia is back, but so are all those historical inaccuracies. Nevertheless, this series had a decent theme. If only it had a better plot.

This book was way better then the second installment. It was fun and easy to read and I really enjoyed some of the ending. It gave the reader the knowledge of what happened to all the characters starting with Anne through her parents. The author even mentions Anastasia in the ending. This novel was a good stopping point for the series.

I would have to say that this was a good series to read. I like how this book brought back information from the first two books. Even though Anne did not have an ideal life she grew up and learned more about herself and her strength. It also helped that she had an amazing best friend that was always there to help.

This was a great end to a great series. As YA Fiction goes, this story is a nice spin on Russian Mythology and History. It still includes the Teenager Relationship trials that makes Youth Fiction...well... Youth Fiction.
