A lovely book exploring the first few seasons of Springwatch, full of beautiful photos and detailed information of the animals and their lives. One highlight was the soap opera events of a pied wagtail nicknames 'Casanova' because it was found he had 3 different females on separate nests of eggs! 17 chicks in total fledged the nests that season. Scandal was tempered because they are an at-risk species, so apparently he was just doing his bit to boost the local population.
The book is lovely and written with a lot of personality and passion, perfect for any animal lover.

I'm a big fan now but only started watching the 'Watches' during the 2020 lockdown and so it was fun to read this book about the early days of the series. I wish I'd been a viewer back then as it sounds like Bill was a charismatic presenter! Full of stunning photos and interesting wildlife articles.

Information, entertainment - BBC at its best. Gives a great flavour of the series.
