The Squad plans a summer picnic and a fireworks show for all of Super Hero City, but the villains plot to pull the plug on the party. When Dormammu's magic leaves the picnic plans all wet, can Captain America save the day or will their fireworks fizzle out?
You would think from the title and cover that Captain America would save the day, but alas the only thing he actually does is be the "man with a plan" and tell others how to save the day. Leadership is a skill, but I wanted more Cap action in this. Also - I'm no comics expert, so I might be mistaken - I didn't think Dormammu was a lackey of Dr. Doom...Idk... Dormammu gets chucked away by Colossus...funny, but underwhelming for a big baddie. And their plan to heat the air near the fireworks to dry them out, then shoot a fireball at them in the air seems EXTREMELY unsafe. What if the fireworks happen to be aimed back toward earth when they are lit?
I can't fully explain why this book is less fun then the rest that are equally ridiculous but less fun it is. The Super Hero Squad in Super Hero City save their party and fireworks from the stinkers Dr. Doom and Dormammu. The best parts are all the characters it includes: Spiderman, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Colossus, Human Torch, and Wolverine. It is also fun to think of all the super heroes living in the same city fighting all the bad guys in Villainville.
