I borrowed this book from my husband's bookshelf. Although I am (thankfully) not in danger of losing my job, I was curious what the recommendations from Dr. Froehls would be. As a psychologist with a specialty in happiness, I appreciated the positive tone to the book - that job loss, whether expected or unexpected, is not necessarily a negative, and in fact, could be turned into a positive. I lost my job almost two years ago. The Gif of Job Loss has been a great motivator for accomplishing this things on my bucket list and for viewing my time right now as as true gift. Clearly written with many actionable pieces of advice for making the most of the time you have. So many of us feel as if we HAVE to start looking for a new job. This book successfully argues otherwise.

The normal reaction to job less is a hyperactive, unfocused chain reaction of

More and more people I know are becoming unemployed. In today's job market, it is extremely difficult to find a job. Michael Froehls helps us to realize that sometimes losing your job can be a blessing.

Many times in our careers, we get into that proverbial rut. We do the same thing, day in & day out. We don't step out of our comfort zone and take risks. It is during the time after losing our jobs that we can take the most risks.

Not that long ago, there was a movie out called The Bucket List.

Michael Froehls approach to the Work hard, play hard philosophy? Work hard, and, in case of job loss, play harder.

Job security in todays economy is a luxury, but according to Michael, lay-offs can be a gift. Unemployment offers much-needed time off, he says, and points out the benefits in The Gift of Job Loss: A Practical Guide to Realizing the Most Rewarding Time of Your Life, a book he wrote aft
