Bandworld #2
Back Under The Stairs
Recently purchasing what was said to be a "haunted house," John Lyon, young Kansas City historian, stumbled into an alternate reality accessed from the storage space under his stairs. He was able to make it home from the first trip to Bandworld unscathed.
His 20th Century knowledge now buttressed by the magic he'd learned to use in the alternate world ... what could be wrong with taking another trip to enchantment-land? Nothing. . . if you don't count John's encounter with the lxlop, being caged by Pfnaravin, and a deadly battle with the Azare Mage-King Auro!
This is a full-length Novel (95,000 words)

Book #2 in the Bandworld Series.
Continuing from when he returned after his first excursion to the Bandworld, John soon talks himself into another trip. Knowing what to expect however, her makes certain preparations beforhand. Arriving there to find that things had worsened in his absence, it does not take him long to try and correct things along the way. Not all are happy to seem however as there are several attempts on his life - excluding those from the opposing Mage-King.
Though I enjoyed the book, I did not find it as enjoyable as book #1. Thankfully I got it for free - a limited time Kindle-offer on Amazon.
I'm in two minds about book #3 now...

Ok, so I can't start a series and not finish it. I read this second book in the bandworld series quickly. It was a lot of more of the same. Seemed like the characters were having the same issues over and over. Would like to see the story branch out a bit more. Will read the third book and see if it's the same as the first two.

When reading a series, if the first book was enjoyable I have to read all books in the series. In this book, the pull of the other world's curiosities, magic and historic ways intrigue John to return. He catches up with old friends, more situations happen to keep him there until things are "fixed" which inevitably means he will break something - or someone else will.

I got this one free from the the author but that has not influenced my opinion of it, I am loving this series - it reminds me of the Saturday movie series we used to watch as children (if you grew up when I did) and like the movies where I would be waiting in line the next Saturday to see what happens I am fixing to get the next one in the series.

The first book was decent and I had high hopes for this one, but I won't be reading the 3rd.
