Very practically oriented, with lots of suggestions. Two points that are very firm: 1) Use it or lose it. The longer you can keep someone doing particular things, the more functional they will remain in general. 2) Don't try to fix the person--accommodate yourself to where the person is. There is a huge temptation to try to correct the person's misunderstandings or behavior. But this is pointless. i actually read this 5 years ago, when I saw a man reading it on the plane next to me, and when I realized that my mother was not as mentally astute as she had been in the past. The book showed me that I had been handling issues with her in an entirely incorrect manner, and helped guide me to make decisions that have improved her quality of life - and mine.
