I loved the Frayed series and looked forward to every new release. Forged Bonds is the third and final book in the series and I freaking loved it. The sass, the snark, and the steam... great entertainment.
Omg, I can't believe it but Freya has grown so much by the end of this book. Freya who is used to doing everything on her own is accepting help from other people. She's also opening up her heart and dealing with her emotions instead of shoving them to the side. Freya starts showing a softer, loving side but doesn't worry because Freya still has her edge and is even more of a badass.
Everyone is getting closer, not just with Freya but with each other. There is a lot of flirting going on and everyone is testing their relationships with each other feeling how things work. Nolan was the biggest obstacle because he had a lot of childhood trauma so I was extremely happy when Nolan finally gets out of his own way. I loved seeing the emotional side of Emmett in this one, he's a stoic teddy bear who doesn't express his feeling much but feels deeply. One thing is clear while everyone has their own relationships within the group, a group as a whole they are everything to each other, protective, possessive, supportive, and loving.
I have to give it to Olivia, there were a lot of hot scenes in this book as well as loving moments. I was excited about a few things. One, we finally get to visit Zemterra (the Demon world) which turns out to be a little different than I pictured. Second just when I thought we were gonna get answers about the mysterious Joanne (family friend) things get even weirder and nothing is answered. I need at least a novella to explain her because something goes down in this book that has me asking lots of questions. Finally, the big bad, Kylan Jitara, has made an appearance and readers get a look into Nolan's family.
Forged Bonds was a fantastic ending to Freya's series. A lot of things were resolved from relationship issues to a face-off with the main villain. There was plenty of steam, danger, and magic. Things were a little touch and go, and there is plenty of trauma to go around but overall Freya and her guys got a HEA and had the best epilogue. I'm gonna miss Freya and her guys but maybe readers will be able to catch up with them in Maisie's book.
