This book was a great addition to the series. It has all the cheesy Christmas feels that the other books in the series had, but this one didn't have the tear jerking moment.

I found this read a bit difficult because each chapter I found myself invested in, let's say, Gretchen's story. Then, once the chapter changed, I am now reading Melissa's story. I am still invested in what was going on in the previous chapter and have to stop and remember - "right, first person character change! I am no longe

The Christmas note by Donna VanLiere
This story narrated by the author herself is about a woman who relocates nearer to her mother with her two kids. Her husband is going through surgeries in Germany due to the war and the bomb blast.
She delivers a message to the woman next door, from the landlord that she needs to clean out her mothers room as she's passd away. Over the next few days the kids and her deliver flowers and a card that they made.
Gretchen also will accompany her and help clean out t

Like a Hallmark movie! A short sweet book about finding family during the holiday season.

After Melissa's mother dies, she finds out she has two siblings - a brother and sister. Melissa's mom Ramona wasn't the best mother and had many male friends. A lot of things tie up nicely and quickly and Melissa discovers her siblings and there is a past connection with many of the stories characters.

Also central to the storyline are Gretchen and her children. They move in next door to Melissa when husban

I would always pick books with Christmas as a theme, maybe because Christmas reminds me the world has a lot of goodness to offer( the thought is carried all year round but it strucks the hardest during Christmastime). I believe this is my 3rd book of Donna VanLiere's ( didn't read it in sequence, though) and her stories delivers something good every time. This one revolves around a woman coming out of her shell and expressing her potential with the help of a few good souls. It's a good read, 3 s ...more

WHAT A GLORIOUS PLOT THAT BROUGHT SO MUCH JOY AND TOGETHERNESS!!

This story with all its twists and turns brought so much joy into my heart. It's entirely possible that a story such as this could happen in real life since truth is often stranger than fiction. The author surely has the right touch to create such a beautiful and touching story such as The Christmas Note. She has such a rare gift for writing the stories she carefully weaves together for our enjoyment. Hopefully no one will pass up t

My Review: For some reason I still struggle to picture Miriam as a mother but I really enjoyed getting this aspect of her character. I enjoyed each of the characters and really understood loved the development each one goes through as the story continues. The conclusion did come across a little too prefect for my liking, things just worked out a little too much, but I guess that is the joy of Christmas stories. It was a good continuation of the story and I love how Miriam and Gloria are such med ...more

Again, I just love tgis series of Christmas stories by VanLiere. This one ties more of the characters together with Robert Layton, as a periphery character still having his heart in the town.

We learn about Miriam, her adopted daughter and military family, and a family member unbeknownst to her living right next door.

These stories are all heart and this one made mine swell. Shy of 5 🌟 because I predicted the outcome less than halfway into the story.

Promised myself I'd have all 10 read before the

It didn't take long before I realized I had seen the Hallmark movie version of the book. I liked both! I related to Melissa and her past experiences. I love the part where her former neighbor talked about how hard it is on everyone to lose a parent. She said the people who were close to their parents have the good memories to help them through the grief. Those who were not close to their parents try to make sense of the negative memories and experiences they had. Amen! Great story, well told, wi ...more

Book six in the Christmas Hope series. A novel by author Donna VanLiere who wrote The Christmas Shoes. Another book that does not disappoint. A story of a gruff, lost the world woman. When next door neighbor moves in, Melissa doesn't know what to think or how to act. Neighbor, Gretchen, seems overly friendly. A death brings them together. But will they end up being more than neighbors? This whole series has been great to read and I can't wait for the next ones.

I love these Christmas stories by Donna Van Liere. The characters have depth, messy lives and a need for grace, courage, and hope to step out of the darkness in their lives. The Christmas Note offers a sweet mystery and redemption for troubled character, Melissa; restoration and healing for Gretchen and her family. I watched a Hallmark movie based on this story, but the book is so much better, and even moreso as I listened to this story on audio CD, read by author, herself!

Enjoyed the spirit in the book. It was not just about Christmas. It was about wife and two children waiting to hear about whether their husband/father would survive the recent war injury. It also highlighted the love and care of people in a community of a person who really never had loving relationships and did not know really how to operate and develop relationships. Great book

This is the second book I've run across that each chapter features one of two of the main characters. Interesting concept in writing! This book teaches how important we are to others. Sitting off to the side and not getting involved with people not only hurts us, but others, too! This little book is an easy ready and covers a lot of different things that could happen to any of us.

I took me longer to read this one than it did any of the others but only because I've been too busy to find much time to read.
I enjoyed it as much as I have done all the others and I'm looking forward to starting the next one today. Hopefully, I'll have more time this week to read.
I'll be writing a review on my blog https://www.shelllouise.co.uk

The characters were fantastic, well rounded and three dimensional. I felt like they could have been my next door neighbors in real life.

The plot was unrealistic, though. I know one of the side characters explained that there are no real coincidences, but the ending of this book felt too convenient to be real. Everyone got their happy ending and it felt like a very small world indeed.

This is not only a story of loss but also of hope. Finding things you didn't know you were missing or even looking for. This is a story of complete strangers becoming friends due to strange happenings. A quick heartwarming book. Perfect for the whole family.

Van Liere's books are simple yet pleasant inspiration stories. This one has an ending that is just too good to be true, but it not filled with angst but instead is full of love and good will. They are lovely reads.

“The Christmas Note” is as heartwarming as I had hoped it would be. Having recently relocated and missing home this book gave my heart a much needed lift and reminded me that anything is possible if your open to it.

This is such a sweet book. It's all about family - the family we have, the family we lose, and the family we make. Neighbors by chance end up becoming so much more to each other. It's a lovely little Christmas tale.

After reading The Christmas Star, I realized that I had missed an earlier book in this Christmas series by Donna VanLiere. As with all of the books in this series, it was a short, easy read with a good story line focusing on family and the holiday season! Definitely recommend!
