Designer Barabara Hammet combines both practical skill and interpretive vision in this new and exciting collection of cross stitch projects. Drawing her inspiration from the surviving examples of the art of ancient Celtic kingdoms, she's produced a series of stunning re-workings of the classical Celtic swirling shapes and sinuous forms that are at once both modern and timeless. Projects include pin cushions, needle cases, bookmarks, box lids, cushions, table cloths, place mats, and more! And there's many more patterns to suit every level of skill, plus a motif library to provide plenty of inspiration for further projects.
Very nice designs, clear patterns. I love the addition of small motifs in the back! They aren't standalone patterns but instead very useful for building my own designs.
Basic Premise: Cross stitch projects that feature Celtic designs.
There are a lot of different skill-level projects in here, but most seemed very suitable for beginners. A lot seemed almost over-simplistic compared to a lot of projects I favor, which was mildly disappointing to me, but probably a relief for a lot of other stitchers. There are some Book of Kells-based patterns, too, for the historical buffs.
I love this book! Awesome celtic cross stitch patterns, some based on the Book of Kells. I want to do all the patterns! One of my favorites is The Peacock Picture from the Book of Kells.
