Comentei recentemente que não fui bem apresentado ao Olavo Bilac por conta de seu Contos para Velhos, obra na qual, tirando algumas prosas e poemas, não surtiu o efeito esperado em quem tinha uma expectativa alta. Por outro lado, Via-Láctea é quase arrebatadora, um grande poema composto por 35 belos sonetos que atraem novamente meus olhos para Bilac e suas obras ainda não conhecidas.

Inda as procuro pelo céu deserto.
Direis agora: "Tresloucado amigo!
Que conversas com elas? Que sentido
Tem o que dizem, quando estão contigo?"
E eu vos direi: "Amai para entendê-las!
Pois só quem ama pode ter ouvido

Olavo Brás Martins dos Guimarães Bilac was a Brazilian Parnassian poet, journalist and translator. Alongside Alberto de Oliveira and Raimundo Correia, he was a member of the "Parnassian Triad". Elected the "Prince of Brazilian Poets" in 1907 by the magazine Fon-Fon, he is famous for writing the lyrics of the Brazilian Flag Anthem.
