Well, it certainly wasn't the assignment detective Katie McClure was expecting. Traveling to London to protect an old scientist who'd been receiving death threats? Too easy.
As it turns out, Dr. Macon Douglas is hot. The kind that makes Katie ponder her own kinds of experiments--namely ones that involve Mac being naked. But the death threats are real...along with the wicke

My Review:
I admit a bias- I have never been a big fan of these shorter novels because I always felt like that there wasn't enough time or room for good character or story development. With this book (on top of several other good ones that I have read recently,) I think that I can put that perception to rest. I loved this book.

The story line for this one was wonderful. Katie has been sent to London to protect Mac, a professor at a local university who is doing very important, top-secret research,

B806 Apr11 Detective Katie McClure goes to London to protect an "old" scientist, who's had death threats. Ther' been a couple of close calls. The connection between Katie and Dr. Macon Douglas is strong and Katie's gut helps her find the culprit. The jealous professor blackmails one of her students and another professor to murder Dr. Douglas. Katie catches the woman, falls in love, and her family figures out a plan to open an office in London.

Well I got this book because I've read her other series which was a lot of fun. What I liked about this book was that the characters were very vibrant and seemed to have a bit of attitude to them. Attitude in the fact that they were very spunky.

I love when my characters have spunk. Also love the fact that we waste no time in getting right to the smut. OMG. This woman can write hot steamy scenes.

What I like was that even though Macon Douglas knows who Katie is, she doesn't know who he is and thei

Quick Review: This was such a good, quick read that was hot and steamy in all the right parts. It had a great storyline from the very beginning when Macon was pretending not to be himself. Katie was a fantastic female lead that had street smarts, brains, and enough gumption to hold her own against everything that was thrown at her in this book. The "Blaze" between her and Macon was sizzling, did not feel forced (which is sometimes a problem in shorter books), and r

This book had a good storyline, but for me, the sex was too graphic too soon. I would have liked to have seen it build and then explode, after I had a better grasp of the characters. I did come to like both Katie and Mac a great deal. Although there wasn't much physical description of characters or locations, Ms. Havens is a good writer and helped to lead my imagination on its own journey. I like her style, and the story was full, tight and well told. The book held my interest, although for me, ...more
Would have gotten 4 stars except there were too many details that would be explained right before they were needed instead of being part of a character's personality to begin with. As just one example, when Katie thought about having kids of her own with Mac, suddenly we learn she'd never even thought of kids because she'd been too focused on her career, when we'd never been told that through the entire book.

I felt like the content editor was completely missing from this one, with all those loo
