A little lying and misdirection in the name of love is never wrong. Right?

Chad Miller once had the perfect life—a beautiful baby daughter, a loving wife, a promising career with the FBI. Within a year, he’d lost everything. Making Hauberk Protection a success salvaged his career, but he’s never managed to get over the one fateful decision that spelled the end of his marria

I read this book yesterday, and I have been thinking about it ever since. It's been quite a while since a story has stuck with me like this, where I keep rolling it around in my mind, trying to process how I feel about it.

On the one hand, there is this beautiful portrayal of a second chance at love. I mean, the depth of feelings evoked by the love story, for me, was unexpected and simply lovely. I felt Chad's pain, his anger, his intense longing for what he has lost. I felt his tension, his mist
I was a bit disappointed. After reading Sam's and Rosie's story I've expected more. However, this book couldn't live up to my expectations.

It didn't work for me. Mainly it could be that the plot and the suspense part were definitely too weak and too thin. And I didn't get to know Lauren enough. Furthermore, it bugged me quite a lot that Thalia was an evil bitch. I didn't anticipate something like that after reading Sam's story. :(

At least Chad and Lauren were talking about the SIDS death of thei
I was really looking forward to Chad's story and enjoyed it. I thought the suspense side of it was a bit weak and would have liked it to be a bit more grittier but still an enjoyable read for Hauberk fans
Before you consider buying this book let me warn you that if you haven’t read the other two in the series, there may be points in the plot where you get a bit lost. You need to read the other two to understand the history to this plot, and meet all the major players in all their somewhat murky glory. That being said, if you have read the other two, this is a fabulous little romantic suspense read.

We begin our tale with a picture of a happy family. We meet Chad and Lauren, the content married cou

Deliberate Deceptions is the third book in the Hauberk Protection series. This is the story about Chad Miller who a silent partner in Hauberk and his ex-wife of 10 years, Lauren. Both Chad and Lauren are former FBI agents. Their world and their marriage were torn apart following both personal and professional tragedies. I am absolutely amazed at the amount of deception that broke these two apart and I will say that this book was aptly titled.

It's been a while since I've read a ms. Braemel book and I don't know why I waited so long. Now I must read the others in this series. The suspense in this story is average. What really makes this story good is the chemistry between the characters. When they talk about estranged relationship, Chad and Lauren's is a perfect example.

The amount of heartache in this story is more than most can bear. The obstacles to keep these two lovers apart is appalling. What's worse is condemnation and judgment

Amid the secrets of black ops and high security protection organization, Lauren and Chad are thrown together after eight years of being apart. Less than open, honest dealings, even though meant to be in the best interest of both Lauren and Chad, lead to tense and dangerous moments.

Misinformation and guilt have made them both miserable for all these eight years while each grieved alone for their darling baby that died. The emotional str

My Review:
This is #3 in this series and I haven't read the other 2. There are a lot of details about these organizations and the characters within them that I felt like I was missing by not having read the other 2. I may be wrong about that, but this story simply seemed to be missing big chunks of information or the information that was there was extremely confusing to me. Other than that, this was a great book.

Heart-breaking from chapter 1, this book throws you into the heartache that has cons
Chad & Lauren had the perfect life before everything fell apart due to manipulation, misplaced trust, and tragedy.

Now I'm a big Braemel fan, so needless to say this was yet another great book from her that I thoroughly enjoyed! I felt that it was an emotional read where I was able to connect with the characters and feel their pain for all that they had lost. I was so glad that the book definitely gave me the happy ending for Lauren & Chad that I felt they were owed as a result of all the
What a sad story...and damn, I really liked Thalia after Sam's story but this one made me wish that someone would have kicked her little ass for the interference. Deliberate deceptions is RIGHT. This was a good story, and I think I would have given it four stars if the general plot had been laid out a little clearer. I constantly found myself flipping back and forth to figure out what was going on, who Lauren worked for, how Hauberk got involved in the whole thing, why Chad was involved, etceter ...more
I didn't read the first two books in this series but it would probably have been a good idea. I don't know if the main characters in this book were also part of the first two, but it felt a bit like jumping in mid stream, although past history is explained.

Some things didn't make sense to me like why the people in Chad and Lauren's work lives would be so concerned about getting them together.

But for the most part, it's a good book and I enjoyed reading it. I liked it enough to read other books

Chad and Lauren get a second chance eight years later to reconnect after a series of tragedies, miscommunications and machinations of others had torn the loving couple's marriage apart. They had both pined for each other and Lauren had an uphill battle to break through Chad's walls.

A good story and one that filled in the blanks of some of the other character's in this series.

Had to give this two stars because the plot had me confused for half of the book.
