*IF* you can find a copy of this book, this is the best quick-reference compact source for mythology out there. Bulfinch just doesn't give enough detail, and others may be too specialized (for example, ONLY Greek myths, or ONLY Egyptian myths). This book gives a fairly comprehensive description of the major Greco/Roman Pantheon, as well as Indian, Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Nordic, Celtic, Pre-Colombian American, African, and some Chinese and Japanese myths as well.
As far as options for finding this book, your best bet is to try and find a copy in a used book store, like I did, or order it under used books on Amazon.
